Moonlight studies 🌙 they took about an hour each give or take
One of my favorite bits of storytelling through lighting in Moonlight (2016)
In the first act of the film, Juan tells Chiron the story of a woman who once told him, “Running around, catching up all that light, in moonlight black boys look blue. You blue,” and he unofficially gives that nickname to Chiron. From then on, the color blue represents that little kid inside of him, his queerness, his true self. It’s a hint at the complexity inside of his hard outward character. And once he becomes a drug dealer, mirroring Juan, he goes by Black.
My favorite little detail is in this scene. They’re in the car together driving over to Kevin’s place, and Kevin looks just about ready to eat him alive. And Chiron goes; “What you looking at me like that for?” He gets all flustered and laughs for the first time since we’ve met this adult version of him.
And for a short moment as he’s laughing, a light from the outsides bathes him in blue light, shining directly at us, as if that blue is coming right out of him. It can’t be contained any longer, it’s fighting to break out. It’s a glimpse of Kevin’s view as he’s able to see through the gangster facade and sees the real Chiron, Blue.
I picture it soft and I ache!

CONCLAVE 2024 | dir. Edward Berger
Vincent Benitez, in Spanish:
"My brother cardinal.
With respect, what do you know of war? I carried out my ministry in Congo. In Baghdad, in Kabul. I've seen the lines of the dead and wondered. Christian and Muslim. When you say we have to fight, what is it do you think we're fighting? Do you think it's those deluded men who carried out these terrible acts today? No, my brother.
The thing you're fighting is here . . . inside each and every one of us. If we give into hate now, if we speak of 'sides' instead of speaking for every man and woman . . . .
This is my first time here, amongst you, and I suppose it will be my last. Forgive me, but these last few days we have shown ourselves to be small, petty men. We have seemed concerned only with ourselves, with Rome, with these elections, with power. But these things are not the Church.
The Church is not tradition. The Church is not the past. The Church is what we do next."

I'm going to *remembers suicide is often not a desire for death itself but rather an attempt to radically change one's life because the current state of being has become unbearable but the person can't think of any way to change it other than death* kill myself
Is this too corny? It's too corny.
