Acceptance at Twilight
In the stillness of night's embrace, I stand alone,
Whispers of fate's cruel command, a hushed undertone.
Twenty-four hours, a fragile thread, now unravelled,
Time's relentless march, it's cruel truth, unshackled.
Eyes that once saw endless horizons now seek solace,
In the quiet moments, memories in rapid chase.
What becomes of dreams and desires, now mere dust,
In this finite hourglass, I grapple, I must.
A symphony of emotions, a storm within,
Regret's heavy cloak, the weight of every sin.
I yearn for a sunset's kiss, a dawn's embrace,
But destiny's bidding leaves no room for grace.
The world outside carries on, unaware,
While I confront my mortality, stripped and bare.
To savour each breath, to cherish what's dear,
In this fleeting existence, I find meaning clear.
In the dwindling hours, I'll hold loved ones tight,
Bid adieu to the stars, to the fading light.
For though my time's brief, I'll embrace the unknown,
In the finality of moments, a life fully grown.
