noah fence but rpc should really get back to actually supporting each other ooc. people used to always like/reblog mutuals’ edits, respond to headcanon posts and ooc posts. engagement has gotten worse and worse and then people complain about feeling distant when they aren’t putting in effort to reach out to others. it takes a second to like someone’s headcanon (or respond to it with a comment if you’re worried about clogging likes). it feels so shitty to be trying to make lore posts and share ideas and get crickets back. it isn’t even like talking to an empty room. it’s like talking to a room filled with your friends but none of them even acknowledge that you’re talking to them. we all could put in a little more effort to make each other feel seen and supported ooc. there’s a certain stagnant feeling in the rpc and it really stems from how bad we’ve gotten at communicating and interacting out of character.

how do billy's powers work?

[ This is going to be very headcanon heavy & personal preferences, mind you BUUUT--

Billy’s powers work kind of like Eleven’s did, in that he can just, move stuff with his mind or by moving his hands BUT, he can manifest it PHYSICALLY too as like, energy? Like, energy of his mind but physically tangible in that others can see it.

Think ala uh, Avatar: The Last Airbender or Dragon Ball Z in the sense of Billy can legit just, produce energy in his hands and manipulate that. I personally like the idea of him being able to create like a barrier or shield to help protect others from harm. Also he can totally manifest energy and use that as weaponry ; he tends to make his look like a sword and shield -- in order to attack but also defend himself or others when necessary.

Of course this isn’t immediate: Billy needs to train and work towards being able to physically manifest that energy and if his concentration is broken intensely then it just, fades away. But with enough training and development he’s able to maintain those physical manifestations of psychic energy even if his concentration is broken. ]

Kill Maxine Mayfield or Jane “Eleven” Hopper.

Either of those two; Billy has grown close to them over time, especially since he’s gotten rid of the Mindflayer’s influence and started changing as a person. Billy CANNOT STAND losing people: losing his mother almost broke him, but he kept going on because of his memory of her, his memory of those happier times. He lost his way and became a dickhole, but changed and started to become someone he hopes his mother would be proud of.

Having either of those two ladies die? It’d probably ruin Billy and any changes he would’ve made. Those two are the closest people in Billy’s life aside his own mother, so losing them would just be, devastating for Billy. Not to say he wouldn’t continue living -- he would, Billy’s too much of a coward to take his own life -- but he’d never be the same again.

Ok but can we talk about Billy Hargrove?

Can we talk about how hard he was silently fighting against the mind flayer? I have been seeing a lot of gifs on tumblr (amazing work everyone btw), and in almost every gif set, Billy is crying. At first I was like ok but then I was like wait. It doesn’t make sense for the mind flayer to be upset or scared (duh obvious I know), so the only thing someone can assume is that Billy is right there at the surface. He is literally crying for help. You can see it most clearly during the sauna test, but it’s also very prevalent when he lets El inside his mind, and really anytime a tear runs down his face. If there are waterworks, just know that Billy is suffering inside, trying to fight this thing off. I was just thinking about this, and I just love Billy so much, and he gives me so many emotions, so I just needed to share.

what is your character afraid of?

[ CRUCIAL CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT ]

Billy would never admit it; but he’s terrified of regressing: of falling back into old, terrible habits such as being a major abusive dickweed -- because, honestly, it was easier. It was easier to not give a shit, or at least act like he didn’t, it was easier to not care about anyone but himself. It was easier, and that’s what scares him: that viewpoint.

The idea that caring for others is difficult, and he found it easier to be a douchebag, terrifies him. He doesn’t want to return to that, for all of it’s ease. He wants to be a better person, to help others, to prove and show that he has changed, is constantly growing and learning, becoming someone who, he hopes, that his mother would be proud of.
