We have almost made it to the human zoo. Lapis is laying beside me, asleep. I’m envious of her peace of mind, she’s so certain nothing will come to harm us. I can’t tell if her confidence is based in reality or naivety… She keeps reminding me that she’s a Lapis Lazuli, carver of planets, destroyer of moons; that no gem could dare challenge her might if put to the test. But the zoo is just the first step. If we are spotted, it doesn’t matter if we get out free, we will be tracked. Followed. I can only hope my re-coding of the ship and replacement nova thrusters will change our energy signature enough that we will be untraceable.
Even still, I fear I’ve doomed her. I lost my first love there, am I fated to lose another? I can see us, shattered and ground into dust, used to refuel, regrow, or re-power some horrific machine.
And if the miracle ever comes to pass that you are freed, no warm embrace will await you. You will hear the story of a Peridot who went mad with grief and dragged a Lapis Lazuli down with her. Have I sentenced you to the same sorrow that I share for you…?
Anxiety isn’t the only thing that’s been gnawing on me, either. Lapis, the little brat, won’t stop biting me. We’ve had our first taste of freedom on this brief pleasure cruise, and Lapis has used that freedom to annoy me even more.
But it isn’t all bad. In the brief moments I forget my worries and we dance, and kiss, and laugh. We have done many a beautiful things together.
Lapis is so suited for lazing about; I almost think that’s what she should have been made for. She’d have made a fine statue on homeworld. Within a matter of days she’s already become too lazy to move half the time, insisting I come to her because she’s too "ensconced in the pillows” to get up. I’m weak for her. I heed her demands. Who am I to tell her no? She is right. She does fit perfectly in the crook of my neck.
This marks my last log before we reach the zoo. Perhaps my last one ever. If I fail… I hope my organics don’t suffer much before they pass.
I hope I’m not forgotten.

Anndddd that wraps up Chapter 2! Same as before, I’ll be going on hiatus for 2 weeks to help me stack up enough art to comfortably continue- but! Exciting news.
