I'm rewatching older Dropout Game Changer episodes and I'm cackling

Episode 3, 3! Is already Sam giving the contestants brand new presents.

This man made a show just to give his employees money and gifts and trauma. There has been at least four episodes dedicated to just one cast member (Whodunnit for Rekha, Don't Cry for Jess, The Bachelor for Grant, Who Wants to be Jacob Wysocki), several episodes with prizes (Game of Prizes, 3 Secret Samtas) and several just to piss Brennan off.

Like - Sam owns an entertainment company, has made a show where he's the host on the platform, and just, decided to be am over the top good person. He's paying his employees rent, he knows the PAs by name, he's ready to spend so much money just to surprise his friends on camera. What a guy.

Okay .

I'm not American and I haven't dived into their politics, but I know the surface stuff. Like, Epstein owned an island where everything was legal if you paid for it, and after his death the Epstein files contained the names of either his colleagues or clients, basically people involved with him and this situation.

What I don't like, is the speed at which such a serious matter became a meme. A few years ago, if anything serious and/or concerning has surfaced, it would be taken seriously or ignored, and after sometime, ranging from years to a couple months, it would start to be ridiculed and joked about. And that is fine, I myself love dark jokes and tell my share of fucked up shit.

This year, that period fell DRASTICALLY.

Not even a week after I read about P. Diddy my classmates and the posts I saw started using his name as a joke and a synonym for pedophiles (I ain't censoring myself). People from my class started calling each other future P. Diddy, the internet used his name as a verb, but only in unserious situations. He wasn't used as a warning. He wasn't pointed at and belittled, he was used as a stage for humour. The view of him shifted from "an awful man who committed serious crimes against children" to "that guy that slept with children and now I will compare any adult who looks at a child to him for laughs".

The Epstein files are worse. Way worse. It's what's wrong with our world. It's showing that you are above the law, which should be the ruling power, if you can pay for it. And yet, not even a month later, people start incorporating it into jokes.

Even Dropout, whom I dearly respect, had a prompt on their latest game called "Who do you think is in the Epstein files" as a level for a game.

Call me prude or whatever, but I don't like how fast the public view is shifting. Less people are seeing them as actual evidence that the upper class is flawed and another joke material. It's sick.

Like, this God tasked me to kill his siblings and tried to kill me, and now he's walking around and chatting with other followers and drinking. There's like, nothing special about his character except for the fact that he's immortal. That fucks me up. I got such a whiplash after I indoctrinated him and he just, got on his knees and let me command him to clean the cult. HUH

Gotta add to my Cult of the Lamb posts;

When I started, I had no idea about Woolhaven DLC and when I chose the name for my cult I wanted to lean into my love for the macabre, so I named it "The Divine Rot". It's rot because I gotta kill the other gods and take over their lands (which I didn't do apparently, but now I can take them as followers) and divine because well, the Lamb is a vessel of God.

Well wouldn't you know that, once I started looking into the DLC I read about rot taking the mountain. Like, The Rot.

I changed the name of my cult after that but imagine what Yngya must've thought when she unleashed Rot upon her mountain and made contact with the last of her kind, who has a cult named... The Divine Rot. What kinda IRONY is that

Started playing Cult of the Lamb a few weeks ago and yesterday I married two followers because one requested it.

Well. I failed to notice one of them was a spy. He had a name I never gave to anyone and was a blue cat, a combination I never made. And he has the spy trait, but that's obvious.

Another thing is, they requested to be married to ONE OF MY DISCIPLES. I agreed to it because it was the first couple I would wed and because why not. Meter has been a great follower for me and I'd love for them to get a love life. (Actually they have been strangers before that so I dunno why they suddenly got that urge to marry Meter. Maybe they thought I won't kill the spouse of my disciple.)

To top all that, RIGHT AFTER THE CEREMONY THEY GAINED THE "UNHAPPILY MARRIED" TRAIT.

This bastard came into my cult unannounced with the intention to steal, asked me to be wed with my disciple even without a friendship beforehand, and decided they aren't happy in that marriage right after.

I married my poor poor Meter off to a bastard ((

How should I punish him? He's in prison for now, I can't kill him in the night as I haven't chosen that doctrine. I'm thinking of waiting to meet the fox because it can ask for a follower, and that follower cannot be resurrected afterwards. But in 144 days of playing I've met them twice.

And I can't give the bastard to Midas, since I already gave him 4 followers to be cast in gold. I don't want him to be sacrificed because the cult has a sacrificial trait. Maybe Gluttony of the Cannibals... I want him to have a painful death.

Uh I sprained my wrist 5 time within the span of four weeks and did permanent damage to it in high school and these days I just kinda live with the pain and I forget that most people dont do that untill I see a post about chronic pain

Um or I know I brought this up in an authors note but for those that dont read YDKM when I was eight years old a dog almost ripped my nose off on Easter. I fully recovered and I still love dogs but yeah that happened

A fun one I guess is that when I was born I had a purple nose caused by extra tissue in my nose. And growing up I would scowl and sometimes growl at people if they said anything about my nose (even compliments like "you have such a cute round nose") it was like an instant distaste to people if they so much as looked at my nose wrong.

I also have a spot on my face I can only partially feel, and also sends incorrect signals to my brain due to jaw surgery stretching a nerve and it never healing fully. :D

Mmm. I'm pretty open about a lot of stuff.

I have one tho; in elementary school we had a native speaker class that I got into, and when we had to tell about a childhood injury (there was a text about injuries and as an assignment we had to go around and tell our story) and since I didn't have one but wanted to appear cool, because the native speaker kids were cool to me, I lied and COMPLETELY copied the story of one Russian animator (Zakatoon). I watched his video a day earlier on the topic and recited it in perfect detail, and since he told a lot I could actually leave stuff out and answer questions as if I really had that injury.

I don't even remember the story now, something about falling off the swing and impaling his arm. I just copied it to the T and even "showed" where it was. I don't talk to those kids anymore but it's fun thinking there's 4 people in the world who think I have that injury.

TLDR; I fabricated a childhood injury story off of a Russian animator to appear cool.

I had a post previous about Dark Academia and now it's a continuation.

Ya know what I hate mostly about aesthetics? The push for specific products.

If I see another video that says "style this dress goth with me!" And then the person pulls out a very specific product (and I mean type of product, not a sponsor although those go hand in hand) I will lose it. It's so demoralizing to try to look a certain way and think that you will achieve that only with a very specific accessory.

If you can get your hands on those, that's awesome, good for you. But you don't need a garter belt to be goth, you don't need a huge sparkling cape to be whimsy.

It feeds into the "buy our very punk pre-torn jacket!" Businesses and the mutation of alt. The idea that you need very specific items to be someone is very wrong.

When I started my style journey, all I could see are either sponsored or very specific videos. "How to dress whimsigoth!" And instead of showing actual tips how to use clothing you already have to achieve the kind of look you want or what clothing is preferred and can be easily integrated into everyday wear, the creator pulls out a set of top with pants from a specific store #1, an accessory you wouldn't normally find, a thing they got sponsored to show by store #2 and another specific accessory that you have to sell your soul for.

I'm not saying being sponsored or having a closet that caters to your aesthetic is bad, I'm saying don't try to sell it as the only way to look like the style. You don't need a 3 layered skirt with bug prints to be whimsical! Of course it helps and if you can get one (and like it) - get it! If you want to get into goth makeup you don't need to buy a specific pallete with a name like "Dancing in the Darkness", you can start from normal makeup in the right colours or even Halloween makeup (reminder - alt culture made their looks themselves at first. There were no brands for "Goth" or "Punk", they made that themselves).

I got into the whimsigoth aesthetic and man, I felt so bad when I thought I needed this exact type of dress and these rings and that bow. It took me nearly a year to find a way to adapt the aesthetic into my style because actual advice was so scarce it looked like gems when I found it.

TLDR: You don't need very specific products and clothes to be a certain way and I'm so tired of people making others feel that.
