Other networks: so...you....just...put LGBTQ+ characters in your shows...without making fun of them or queerbaiting??
Netflix: What, like it's hard?
Have you seen the movie? It’s a celebration really of the ability that these gentlemen and ladies actually have. As actors its great for us to be cohesive in a story element so you believe the actor is going through what’s going on and the character is doing what’s happening on the screen. The truth of the fact is, that we’re not. Behind there is a largely unspoken crowd of men and women who are dedicated to putting themselves through, for entertainment purposes, genuinely hurting themselves, and putting themselves at risk to make us [the actors] look good. Jacob and I work cohesively together to create and bring you a character. So instead of not talking about it, we’re celebrating it.

“I am the Diaspora” photo campaign by the Ithaca College African Students Association.
This year, we created a campaign named: I am the Diaspora. The goal of this year’s campaign was to raise the awareness and ignite discussion about the African Diaspora and the meanings and understandings it evokes. We hope to reach students and faculty of Ithaca College as well as folks around the world. We wanted to share diverse and layered viewpoints on the topic from various individuals who identify as being a part of the African diaspora whether it be physically, spiritually, culturally, emotionally, etc. We asked individuals to share their views on the state of the African Diaspora today in fulfillment of our theme, “The Power of Stories.” The photoset can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.886152981440949.1073741846.512995628756688&type=1

ICYMI: white women are attacking Jessica Williams on Twitter for saying she doesn’t want to succeed Jon Stewart’s run on the Daily Show, citing Sheryl Sandberg and Lena Dunham as models of confidence that Williams should emulate.
Love love love. Cannot wait to see where this woman takes her career.

In case ya’ll were entrenched in that 24 hour news cycle, what you don’t know is, need lists circulated on social media last night, we had the city cleaned by 11am. There were also lists of places to get a meal for the displaced. There were preachers conducting workshops on civil disobedience for the kids out of school. Citizens formed a secondary lines to protect the police.
My city is not perfect. The hurt runs deep and far. It’s been silenced so long the first conversation was always going to sound like screaming. But Baltimore takes care of Baltimore.
