Thoughts about Stranger Things season 5 part 1 below! Major spoilers: (Also if you’re going to comment, don’t be a dick. I’m very block button friendly 💖)
Volume 1 was incredibly underwhelming
The pacing was off (so much happened and yet nothing happened)
The time jump was a mistake especially because there was no explanation of anything that happened within those 18 months (at the very least we should have been given some flashbacks)
The dialogue was not good (too many unnecessary and cringey dick jokes, and I almost started taking shots every time Erica said dipshit)
A lot of the acting was emotionless (why didn’t Mike show any emotion after his parents were almost gutted?????????)
Dustin and Steve’s dynamic is not fun to watch and I hate how they’re treating each other even though I somewhat understand why
I’m glad Will advocated for himself to Joyce
When you’re having relationship problems, proposing and slapping a bandaid over the wound is a recipe for disaster and makes literally no sense whatsoever
I really did enjoy Robin helping Will with accepting himself
I feel like the only characters who felt like themselves were Nancy and Robin
Steve and Jonathan competing and trying to impress Nancy would’ve made more sense if they were 16 but now they’re both like 20 years old and I’m over it. From the looks of it Nancy may genuinely end up being with neither of them at the end.
Annoyed that Max still isn’t awake after 4 episodes
Vecna’s costume makes him look like a walking tree
The plot seems way too convoluted with all these dimensions and alternate universes and living in memories to the point I don’t understand (maybe that’s just a me issue though and not a writing/storyissue)
Some of the main characters didn’t have enough screen time in my opinion (Steve, El, etc.)
I wanted more badass moments from Eleven
Trying to figure out where in the fuck Will’s powers even came from although I’m sure it’ll be explained in volume 2 (the end of episode 4 did have my jaw drop though it was pure cinema)
This season does not have the regular sci-fi feel that earlier seasons did and I think that’s lowkey one of the reasons it feels…off.
I think it’s very obvious now by this point that either Will, El, or both of them will die.
The Duffers really need to nail volume 2 and the finale because it seems the consensus is that many people are not pleased with the first part of this season.
