before 10 months ago, if you would have asked me if i saw myself in a relationship with this guy i would've said "no way," or "he'd never be interested." but then out of the blue he decided to give me his number. that night he said he had to pull an all nighter, because he had to pull a graveyard shift the next day. we met up at a park we both used to hang out at and it was one of the best nights of my life. we walked around the park and just talked. talked about every subject under the moonlight. we walked and we walked and we ended up at a skatepark he always went to. we kept talking and eventually we both ended up laying down on the concrete just looking up at the moon. it was a beautiful moment. later we decided to walk back to the park and on our way there, he grabbed my hand for the first time. it was really cold that night so by the time we made it back to the park, it was freezing. there was this little kid "hideout" where we took shelter, so to speak. we laid there and tried to cuddle as close as possible for warmth. that's when he kissed me for the first time & after that one thing lead to another and I ended up in his bed by morning light. i left to visit home the next day. a few days after i left, somehow i was granted a miracle, and this handsome man and i made this official. two agonizing months later, i came back. the day we reunited it felt like i was finally home. you took me in your arms and it felt like i had never left. i'm gonna go ahead and skip past a few months that weren't the best for us. fast forward to july, and he truly surprised me for my birthday. he got me beautiful flowers that were so bright. balloons, and dark raspberry chocolate, and a four pack of Red Bull. then he got me mashed potatoes from kfc. annnd then we got drunk together. i couldn't have asked for a better night. the rest of the summer went by faster than i thought it would. he got some bad news about his family & told me he'd be moving back home to Cali. he gave me a promise ring the day he left, and he has kept that promise every day since. the plan was for me to fly out there with him when everything was settled. another two painful months passed where every day without him felt like a year. then one day i found myself about to be stranded on the streets with no place to go. i called him and told him and he managed to rent a room in the house he's living at, for us. i was thrilled about finally being reunited. i got here and every day since has been an adventure. i love him more than i could ever convey with simple words. he's my best friend, and he's the one i get to wake up to every day. our love story may be messy, but it's my favorite. happy anniversary, darlin'.
