sail the wildest stretch by @beautifulletdownfics - I still think about this fic all the time, amazing and such a good main character!

cloudbusting by @starsstruck - please just read it, I love (and everything else in their masterlist!!)

checkmate by @enthusiasticharry - read all the chapters in one go, a lovely and creative story, that a lot of research has obvisouly been put into:) and can’t wait to see what happens next!

terrible to meet you by @beautifulletdownfics - again, just amazingly written and wish I could read it for the first time again 

in my feelings by @harrystylescherry - one of my favourite fics of last year and reread it often, amazing! can’t wait to see how it ends

Instead of going home, you stopped into a corner store and bought a fresh pack of Sterlings—and a tiny bottle of Baileys. After ordering a small black coffee from a Nero nearby, you popped off the lid and poured the contents of the tiny bottle inside.

I don't expect everyone to understand the experience I have a black writer and reader in fandom. It's easy for a lot of people to say "descriptions of the reader don't bother me" especially if you're white because, well, a lot of those descriptions YOU can relate to. I cannot. I don't have that luxury.

For example, I was reading this great reader insert when suddenly the writer gave "reader" a name and a faceclaim who, of course, was white. I couldn't in my right mind enjoy that story anymore. I was SO INVESTED too. It was upsetting but like...what could I do? People rarely listen to people of color in fandom anyway so my complaints fall on deaf ears. Though I can say I've had people come to me and ask how to be more inclusive!

Certain things YOU'RE able to look past and ignore in reader inserts, I CAN'T. That's YOUR privilege. Not mine. I don't give a damn about things like height descriptions or if the reader is wearing glasses or not but stuff about skin and hair are always painful to read especially when you know it's never gonna stop.

I understand the whole "We're imagining ourselves when we write" which is normal. Every single fic I've written with Frankie I imagine MYSELF but I still try to make it inclusive to anyone who might read it because I know what it's like to be sidelined and forgotten about...
