#Throwback Thursday Part 1: Top Gear 1999

JESUS FUCK. I THOUGHT THEY WERE GOING TO MAKE OUT. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE START TO A PORNO. THE SEXUAL TENSION. OH MY GOD.
I LITERALLY CANNOT NOT REBLOG THIS EVERY FUCKING TIME THIS IS A TRUE CINEMATIC TREASURE OF OUR TIME
EVERY SINGLE GODDAMN TIME THIS IS ON MY DASH I THINK IT’S A PORNO.
Here’s the full parody. Truly a masterpiece! Other than a serious fan-made trailer, this is one of the best Superhero fan films out there..Oh and the immigration one but that was obvious comedy.
“Maybe… maybe you’re gay?”
Do you have any favorite fics recently? I’m trying to find a slow burn but I’m wondering what other fans have enjoyed for TG/GT fanfics so I don’t miss any hidden gems :)
Ooooh, there are sooo many!
If you're looking for specifically my favourites, a good place to start is my Bookmark Collection. Which is a work in progress, I've only relatively recently started organising, and there are many favourites that are waiting for a reread and therefore haven't yet made it into the Collection!
The one fic that most recently has blown me away (again) with how good it is and has been occupying my mind ever since the re-read is Dreaming of Mercy Street by @drunkgerbil. It's a WIP still, and can't be classified as slow burn, but it's so, so worth reading, no matter if it's ever going to get finished or not.
As for hidden gems in general, I think DrunkGerbil is a good bet :). Try, for example, the two Coffee Shop AUs (even if you're not into coffee shop AUs)! I'm also going to mention Rhosyndu, here, even though their fics have nothing to do with slow burn. But they are certainly gems, and very much hidden, so I guess it counts.
I'm sure this isn't news, but for slow burn, @marginaliana is always a good bet. I mean, stories like High Fidelity or Leaving There Too Soon... mind-blowing.
Other writers that I think would fit the bill in general are Vivian_Moon (North springs to mind, but they are all fantastic) and Wildes (Night Call in particular). On the Long, Slow Road of Being James by nm_317 is a classic that you've probably already found if you're looking for slow burn. Matchpoint by Augustus is actually tagged slow burn, so you'll probably have seen it, but another really fantastic soulmate slow burn (iirc) is Two Souls In One Heart by tgtchm.
These are just the ones that sprung to mind first, there are many, many more and I could go on forever if I kept thinking about it. So I'll stop here. Everyone, though, please feel free to add your favourite (hidden gem) slow burn recs in comments and reblogs!
If you use any of these recs and like what you find, please don't forget to leave a comment for the author on the story itself. Thank you :)

Remembering Marie Dressler on the anniversary of her death (July 28, 1934). A delightful talent, Dressler was the # 1 box office draw in Hollywood at the time of her death, a fete in an industry that glorified youth and glamor.
Will Rogers paid tribute to Marie Dressler on the radio just before her death in 1934. “Marie Dressler is the real queen of our movies,” the

"Hammond's spirits" painting by me. ♥︎
This one kept me busy for months! I wanted to reveal it earlier, but I didn't find the time. Richard Hammond has launched a bunch of drinks, so I thought to myself: why not draw an advertised-styled portrait of him featuring the three different kinds of his spirits? And that's what I did.
My favourite were drawing the table and the bottles, so many reflections! *✦. I haven't had the chance to buy one of his drinks in my area, but I still wish that one day I can at least try a glass of his gin! I also had to include Oliver somewhere in my painting as well as some suitcases from the Grand Tour tent.
I really hope you like my painting, as always I included some detailed, zoomed in shots and some "work in progress" steps, which are always quite interesting, I think.
The older i get the more i understand why some people become obsessed with privacy, not because they’re hiding something, but because being constantly perceived starts to feel spiritually exhausting.
Did you know that soda machines at restaurants and movie theaters spy on you? That most common new cars now record your sexual preferences and send it to the manufacturer (and also data about anyone who also gets in your car, walks by your car, and maybe happens to be within visual range of your car)? That grocery stores are trying to force customers to download an app to scan barcodes on shelves instead of putting up prices, so the app can scan the phone, decide how much that customer should be squeezed for, and adjust the price? That more and more innocent people are being sent to jail for crimes committed hundreds of miles away because an AI facial recognition algorithm spit their faces out and the cops didn't bother to do the most basic of checks?
I am not uptight about privacy because I'm hiding something. I'm uptight about it because the people who dismiss my right to privacy are dangerous to you and me and our families, personally, all the time.
And often, they are assholes, too.
