Imagine how annoying it must be to have like been in comptons and then for the next 5 decades just hear abt stonewall over and over again

Context for this: the Compton’s Cafeteria Riot occurred in 1966 in San Francisco, a few years before Stonewall. It was a response to police crackdowns and raids on the cafeteria, which was a known congregating site for gay/trans people. The majority of the protesters/customers were trans, particularly trans women, who fought back against the police. According to Wikipedia, it’s one of the earliest recorded instances of pro-trans activism in San Francisco. LGBT history does not start and end in New York, or with Stonewall.

like a lot of men get intensely angry about women being unattractive to them. look at all the male comedians who make violent jokes about fat women or trans women or old women, about beating/raping/murdering them because they think those women are ugly (a lot of times this isn’t even hypothetical, they talk about real women they have met this way). look at the history and patterns of gnc women being sexually violated. it wasn’t bc the men who violated them thought they were hot, it’s bc they were angry at these women’s refusal to perform femininity for them. their refusal to “be attractive” to men.
