lets just all give a big sigh of relief that there was not one other white male teenage character in spiderman: homecoming, because petermj, peterliz, and peterned definitely wouldn’t have stood a chance. as it is, theres a huge surge of peter x reader, and peter/tony and peter/wade fic (those last two are pedophilia in this reboot btw, peter is 15 in this movie), as fandom literally turns to any alternative rather than shipping peter with friends his own age, because they are poc. i guarantee you, if ned had been a skinny white guy, they would have been shipped like crazy. hell, if flash had been white, people probably would have shipped them too

One of my favorite things about Book of Shadows was how, the first time they go their own ways, Jake is with Andy and seems to want to reassure him that they’ll always be friends no matter the changes? Like, Jake is #1 “I want to leave this shit behind” in this group, but when they were about to separate ways, he was the one to bring up to Andy specifically that they will still see each other at school. And Andy is vaguely pissed off when he answers “Unless you get that scholarship” like he thinks Jake is actively leaving him behind?? Then, almost helplessly, Jake says “Be back on weekends” in hopes of still hanging out with Andy when they graduate???

I’m just saying, there are four of them but this conversation was just the two of them. (Sam has always been off on his own, and Felix wants this group because he wants friends, because these are his people, but he wants them all. Jake and Andy has always been developed to have the deeper bond with each other.)

Even in the ending, it’s like this:

The clear grouping of Mia/Sam, Ellen/Felix, and Jake/Andy/Viv? Jake is part of Andy’s family? (Jake is closest to Nai-nai! She helped save his life twice! She’s the one who said Water balanced Earth!)

I’m about a year late in this fandom but just… I love Jake and Andy’s relationship so much ;;
