i genuinely hate fanfics or fanart where ribbit and jax meet again happily ever after and they’re best friends again and jax has this sudden change of heart and it’s just rainbows and sunshine

like yes there’s cannon art of it but i don’t care NOBODY in that situation should forgive them they were genuinely so evil to her, manipulated her and pushed her to BASICALLY suicide no they would not be best friends and no she would not forgive them even if they apologized

i wanna see more fanwork where she doesn’t forgive them and they get what they deserve and she treats them exactly how they treated her and she’s all giddy when they abstract and she torments them in the digital afterlife

you know the thing about "tragic because it was always going to end this way" versus "tragic because it didn't have to end this way"?

currently obsessing over the fact that Jax is the latter. his story doesn't hurt because his abstraction was inevitable, it hurts because it wasn't.

there's a completely believable version of events where Jax makes it. where he deepens his friendships with Kaufmo and Ribbit. where he learns how to be vulnerable without immediately back-pedaling and lashing out.

things only escalate after he's faced with a choice-

Ribbit reaches out to him and he pushes her away.

Kaufmo finds (as far as they know at the time) real hope of escaping the circus and he refuses to listen.

Ragatha keeps trying to offer him compassion and he outright bullies her until she stops reaching out.

then, Pomni finally starts getting through to him and..... once again, he shuts down the second things start to feel real.

that's what makes his arc tragic. not "poor thing, he never had a chance," or "he was doomed from the start." he willingly walked toward doom because every step felt like an act of self-protection at the time.

I honestly believe the only thing that makes fasting hard is feeling like you already have a hole inside you. No, I’m not really hungry but I’ve got no real personality, no one I can trust, no hobbies, no real life. All I do everyday is stay on my phone or watch tv and the only things that make me feel some semblance of happy is going out and partying, fucking older men, drinking, taking pills, and smoking. I don’t think that even makes me really happy. It feels like I’m missing something and as much as I hate it, making myself feel full is the only way to fill that space.
