What I've learned from playing Candy Crush - 12 Steps
So it happened one day, as I was in a fit of wakefulness at stupid a.m. that I decided to see what all the fuss was about. I hopped into my app store and downloaded the much lauded and highly facebooked Candy Crush.
In mere moments the whir of sugary sweet colors and crunchy blinging noises of the game hooked me. I was obsessed. I didn't fall back to sleep that night. And now, on level 79 and 3 weeks later, I have started to take stock of some of the things I have learned from the game.
1. It pays to have friends. They can give you life and some extra chances to move. Sometimes those little gifts come when you are least expecting them but, when things are at their very worst and you are frustrated beyond belief, you have to ask them to save you.
2. Take a moment to plan. Instead of jumping into a situation headfirst it will benefit you to take a look at the big picture and assess the situation. Sometimes a small move can help you accomplish big things, and then again sometimes it doesn't really help at all.
3. Sometimes you have to try, try, and try again. Seriously. For weeks. Doing the same thing different ways until you can make it work.
4. Sometimes you have to walk away from something. Put it down, gurl, and do something else. It will be there when you get back and you can look at it with fresh eyes.
5. Give gifts freely. If you ever have a chance to give first just do it! It will come back to you when you least expect it.
6. Be calm and focused in high stress situations. When things are going crazy, and it looks like chocolate might take over the world, it will benefit you to just stay focused on what the true goal is.
7. Sometimes throwing a little cash at a problem will solve it. Sometimes it won't. Sometimes it buys you a trick or extra time and moves but it doesn't always mean that you will win.
8. The Lemonade Lake looks like a big pee puddle no matter how many times you pass it and it tells you it's lemonade.
9. Maybe I wasn't having as much of a problem with my stomach as I thought I was. Maybe I just never gave myself enough time to go to the bathroom. Stop being so damned busy all the time.
10. If you show your husband how to play he will not only blame you for his own addiction he will constantly ask you to get his ass out of a gummy sling.
11. Sometimes you can't find a way to cheat through something hard. Even with Google. Mmmmhmmm....it's true. Every situation is a little different and things never stack up quite the same. While it can save you time to learn from someone else's mistakes sometime you have to just walk through it yourself and see what happens.
12. Disco Balls can change the whole game. Even if it's a candy sprinkle covered chocolate bon bon type disco ball.
That's it kids...I learned a lot about life, love, giving and even pooping.
