Kate Spade a Best Buy

I made the trip to Best Buy to look for a new portable hard drive. In between the best of Rom-coms and tablets, I saw a familiar word Kate Spade. It immediately grabbed my attention. As I started checking out her display, I noticed she had a gambit of electron accessories. It made me think how much the tech industry and fashion industry is merging. Which is why I decided to start writing this blog again. Its been a while but i still think Haute Tech has a lot to say about fashion and technology!

Sci-Fashion in Films

When you think of the Predator, R2-D2, or E.T. you automaticly think fierce alienistas! Ok, maybe that's a stretch but sci-fi film can be a fashion girl's guide to dressing good in a disaster. Here's a couple of movies that managed to rip the galaxy runway, producing some of the fabulous fashions,from a galaxy far,far,away.

 The Bride of Frankenstein (1935)

Its been 77 years since Elsa Lanchester donned a bridal dress and screamed.You may not know who Elsa is by name, but you do know her most famous role. She is the Bride of Frankenstein. The Bride has to be on the top of our fashion list, mainly because she looked breathtaking even as a dead bride and her look is porcelain perfected look is still copycatted to do this day....even if its just on October 31st. 

Barbarella (1965)

I have a confession to make, I have never seen this movie. But I know its lead looks far out in her futuristic fashions. Barbarella made fighting aliens or whatever she did look like a raging party in the universe. White knee boots and mini that would make even Marcia Brady blush, Barbarellais the epitome of sexy space cadet...even if I never saw the movie.

Gattaca (1997)

When you think of the 90s you automatically think of clean cut conservative cooking cutter youths (insert sarcasm). In 1997 a small sci-fi film boldly dared to go where no generation x-er had gone before, corporate America. The movie Gattaca told the cautionary tale of a world filled with clean cut individuals who would actually limit your success if you weren't perfect and followed the crowd. It also foretold of a world were stuffy suits would rule. And to a generation of grunge lovers, Gattaca was more of a horror movie than science fiction.

The Matrix (1999)

But only a few years later, a sci-fi film would revolutionize not only the special effects industry but real life fashion. Women across America longed to squeeze into Trinity's black catsuit. While guys opted for something more sensible, Neo's sunglasses. Yes, The Matrix showed that just because you're literally a slave to a machine doesn't mean you can't be efficient and fashionable!

R.I.P. Lily Pulitzer

The fashion world lost an icon on April 7th when Lily Pulitzer Rousseau died. Mrs. Rousseau a.k.a Pulitzer was the preppy girl's icon. Before Blair Waldorf, sorority and preppy girls across the country looked to Lily Pulitzer as their fashion icon. Her line burst on to the pop American scenes when a former classmate wore one of her now famous flowered print shift dresses. Oh, her former school chum was none other than Jacqueline Kennedy! And, as you can guest, the rest is prep history. 

In honor of the fashion maven, here's a couple of fashion tech items that showed her company was still ahead of the preppy game. From a keychain flash drive to Lily Pulitzer print earbuds this gadgets will be a welcomed addition to any conservative girl's desk.
