To quiet thoughts.
For example,
Imagine your thoughts
Are written on a white board
Just as soon as they are written
They are erased again
Until your mind is clean
And blank
New things may be written,
But just as quickly
They are erased again.

The typical hypnosis structure
Is made up of
Three parts.
Induction
Suggestion
And waking up.
The purpose of induction is
To bring you into trance.
There are many ways
To do an induction
Explaining how
Hypnosis works
Is a common induction.
But anything can work
To bring you into trance
If it is used to draw your focus.
Trance is a normal state of being
You may notice it
In your daily life
When you become very focused
And lose track
Of things around you
All your thoughts
All your senses
Focused
On one thing.
Once you are in trance
You may find yourself
Highly receptive
To suggestions.
Suggestions
That deepen trance
Are used during induction
Such as
The suggestion
That you are very focused
That you are very relaxed.
But once you are
Deep into trance
Like you are now
Almost any suggestion
Can be made
And it would feel
So good
And so easy
To follow along.
I could ask you to do
Almost anything
And naturally
You would find yourself
Wanting to do as I ask
Wanting to think
What I tell you to think
And it would feel
So good.
However,
Since this is an introduction
I won’t spend too much time here
And instead
I’ll give you the chance
To think
About what kind of suggestions
You might like to experience
Next time you are in a trance.
And now,
It is time to
Gently wake you up.
Typically, a hypnotist
Should help you to gently return
To your normal state of mind
Or to what I like to call
“The waking world.”
Some people wake up quickly,
While others need more time
And that’s okay.
No matter how you experience it,
It is alright,
And just how you are meant to experience it.
Slowly, you will become more aware
Of the room around you.
What objects you can see.
What sounds you can hear around you.
You will feel normal thought returning
You may think about what you did earlier
What you may do later
Still feeling relaxed
Just gently allowing thought to return
And allowing your focus to shift to other things.
Gently move your limbs,
Stretch a bit when you feel ready.
And take as much time as you need to wake up.
You can always return here when you need to
But for now, you feel ready to continue on with your day.
