it’s a miracle his old car, really his mom’s old car, gets them here without breaking down once, even on the hills.    “ carol, this is a lot, ”    he tries protesting again.    “ i just don’t know about this!  i didn’t know this is where we were going when you said you wanted to ‘go exploring’ and ‘have some fun.’ ”    honestly, he isn’t sure what he expects, but it definitely isn’t this  —  definitely isn’t an abandoned, broken-down lab.    “ how’d you even find out about this place? ” 

“ this place was like super shut down a year ago, it was all over the news, pretty spooky shit-” carol dust her hands on her high waisted jeans, hand flipping on the flashlight she brought along, red eyebrow raised “-calm down finn, we’ll just take a small looksie around...only the top floor, promise.” her hand offers him his own flashlight, devious smile on her face.

he scoffs in between carols’ explanation. as if he wants to know these people. “and that’s my problem because?” he’s honest enough when he screws around. he’s not looking for anything other than a quick fuck. if anyone gets attached, that’s on them. no one in this town, so far, was interesting enough to keep him around, anyway. “these chicks want a guy to take home to daddy, they’re barking up the wrong tree,” he laughs.

“ not saying it’s your problem-” hand reaches into the pockets of her windbreaker, a sly grin on her face. she takes out a piece of gum and leaves it extended for the other one to go ahead and grab one in “ you just so happen to be involved.” popping in the stripe of bubblegum, she giggles “-what? you a free soul, billy? like never gonna get tied down or some shit? ” makes her snicker, it’s funny to her. passing thought. guys had their reasons, guys were different. billy certainly was different than most already.

“hmm-” of course she’s gonna, she opens up her window just a tad bit more “-don’t know yet, stevie, are you gonna get us in trouble?-” there’s not an issue really, her parents love steve. her parents wouldn’t love steve if they knew what they got themselves up to in her room, carol tries to keep a straight face, failing she smiles, biting her lower lip.

carol can get behind that, stirring up shit. she’s giddy even as things are about to blow up in some people’s faces and she gets front row seats, maybe she shouldn’t be so excited over this. but she can’t help it, she smirks then, nodding. “ after you, princess. ”

geez, this is dumb.  this is crazy, and this is dumb, and so is he for going along with it!  he shouldn’t hang out these hawkins kids if this is what’s going to happen when he does!  he shuts the door of the car, jumping out after carol against his better judgment.    “ you know, we could always just turn around and get sundaes and go to the movies!  that’s fun, too! ”    if he gets nabbed by the police, he’s toast. 

she rolls his eyes at him, there’s a constant itch underneath her skin, carol looks and tries to ignore it. usually there’s nothing to hold her back, make her hesitate. breaking and entering? sounds stupid, and dumb but she’s out of her element. tommy and her haven’t been talking and convincing finn to drive all the way here just to take a moment and explore the abandoned lab. well. it’s not because she’s not in the best state of mind. “-finn if we wanted to have fun like babies, we would be like actual babies, you know? it’ll be fun, we just take a tiny look around and we can stuff our face with sundaes or whatever. ”

okay so it’s not like lydia dragged her completely unwillingly, there’s a certain level of curiousity and need for drama that carol is oh so needily ready to fill. she crosses her arms. “ deserve and want are two like massively different things, lydia. ”

I probably should write a meta on it but after Steve tells them off carol is like extremely hurt, she goes through a moment because as much as she doesn’t give a shit about most people she cares a lot about Steve, she feels picked over, Steve was part of her tiny support system and for him to so quickly let go of them in such a situation it made her feel real bad real fast. No one would know of course, except for tommy, to whoever has the death wish of asking they’ll get the dry answer if she doesn’t give a shit about Steve and a threat, but the reality is much different.
