                      dustin  set  his  head  down  on  his  english  book.  there  is  a  groan  before  he  sits  upright  again.  “  i  don’t  want  to  remember  it  all.  ”  something  about  great  expectations  was  the  opposite  of  riveting  for  dustin.  while  he  could  admire  the  hustle  of  being  paid  by  the  word  he  didn’t  necessarily  want  to  endure  it  all.  but  they  had  to,  because  it  was  apart  of  the  test  that  was  going  to  happen  this  friday.

                        lucas  twists  his  lips.  he’s  normally  more  open  with  people  but  he  liked  to  keep  what  the  party  had  been  through  under  wraps.  it  would  be  cool  to  tell  people  that  he  and  his  friends  had  singlehandedly  save  a  town  but  it  didn’t  come  without  it’s  costs.  it  was  clear  how  heavy  it  weighed  down  on  their  lives  and  how  time  consuming  it  had  been.  there  is  another  shrug,  “  only  fools  do  what  i  do.  ”

                  there  is  a  wide  smile  from  lucas.  now  that  he  has  a  captive  audience  he  is  ready  and  willing  to  share.  he  wasn’t  exactly  confident  in  big  crowds  yet  but  lucas  was  fairly  comfortable  in  small  and  medium  ones.  there  had  to  be  stepping  stone  to  get  where  he  wanted  to  go.  between  that  and  hard  work  he  was  going  to  get  where  he  wanted  to  go  no  matter  what.  there  is  a  loose  shrug  of  his  shoulders,  “  and  i  don’t  really  care  if  nobody  else  believes  cause  i’ve  still  got  a  lot  of  fight  left  in  me.  ”  if  he  could  help  handle  half  of  the  things  that  came  out  of  hawkins  he  was  sure  he  could  take  on  the  real  world.

                    will  liked  the  occult  shop.  there  was  something  comforting  in  seeing  the  monsters  they  had  encountered  in  pages,  or  some  monsters  they  had  never  heard  of  before.  he  thought  the  ghostbusters  were  cool  and  all  but  it  was  putting  a  lot  of  faith  in  people.  maybe  it  was  because  he  had  seen  what  happened  when  the  mind  flayer  returned.  how  many  people,  who  weren’t  even  flayed,  seemed  to  help  in  the  insidious  cause.  “  i  don't  love  people  enough  to  put  my  faith  in  man.  ”  he  said  quietly.  will  didn’t  know  what  that  left  him  with  to  believe  in,  maybe  just  his  friends.  it  was  the  broader  population  he  seemed  to  distrust.  there  was  time  for  that  to  change  though.

                  will  could  feel  a  shiver  up  the  back  of  his  neck.  a  whoosh  !  that  was  similar  to  the  stomach  drop  of  a  roller  coaster.  he  fidgets  before  looking  over  at  kurt.  it  would  be  obvious  to  other  people  that  something  was  wrong,  it  was  pining  down  that  something  that  would  be  difficult.  he  doesn’t  hear  the  question  that  is  being  asked  of  him,  and  thus  he  doesn’t  answer.  instead  he  looked  at  the  ground,  moving  some  dirt  around  with  the  toe  of  their  shoes.  “  i  will  be  as  honest  as  you  let  me.  ”  laced  in  those  words  is  an  implicit  ‘  if  you  believe  me  ’.  up  until  now  it  was  only  his  friends  that  had  taken  him  seriously.    the  other  kids  labelled  him  as  a  freak  or  weird.

                        “  everything  is  going  great.  ”  he  said,  trying  to  figure  out  if  it  was  for  brae’s  peace  of  mind  or  his  own.  in  the  past  few  weeks  he  had  spent  more  time  at  mike’s  house  to  try  and  handle  the  situation.  it  wasn’t  as  if  they  were  denying  help  but  it  was  difficult  for  people  to  take  them  serious  when  they  were  just  kids.

                        he  looks  up  at  el.  out  of  the  group  he’s  the  one  who  knows  her  the  least  although  their  journeys  have  been  reliant  on  each  other.  each  had  been  used  by  people  or  monsters.  or  often  a  combination  of  the  two.  he  tilts  his  head  a  little.  it  was  funny,  when  he  came  back  from  the  upside  down  it  was  like  he  was  living  in  a  dream  almost.  his  mind  would  get  pulled  back  to  moments  and  memories,  things  he  wasn’t  trying  to  think  of  but  instead  felt  compelled  to.  so  he  shifts,  awkwardly,  a  bit  nervous,  “  do  you  get  deja  vu  ?  ”  he  asks.
