@incubusofficial went for the full-on rock sound on the new EP, which came out Tuesday. I think the strongest track on "Absolution Calling," which makes sense it was the first single. "Make Out Party," with its falsetto vocals from @brandonboyd and awesome, slashing guitars by @michaeleinziger and bass by @vatoben, definitely makes it the the surprise song of the EP and second on my list. I'm looking forward to Side B. I like what Incubus is doing. They are, in a way, going back to their roots with the rock sound, but it still sounds like something I haven't heard before. I was really curious to hear the new stuff, considering the masses are leaning toward a more folky, bluegrassy, dancy vibe. But I guess that might be where a song like "Dance Like Your Dumb" comes into play. There's a place for Incubus in the world. People will listen to whatever they make. I was silly to think that they would cater their sound during this round of new music. It's been nearly four years since their last release "If Not Now, When?" And in the meantime, we got "Sons of the Sea," from @brandonboyd and an EP from @vatoben, which were both awesome. I especially appreciate the fact that everyone's talents are represented on "Side A" - a big change from "If Not Not Now, When?" A bit sad @renmanmb is no longer part of the band. But seems like the band has a great team behind them at @islandrecords. Good job, #incubus. You did it again. I'm looking forward to hearing "Side B."
