I kept thinking how as a child Alastor has witnessed the abuse his mother suffered through and in IF he is going through the same thing...
(and a little bit in Forced Broadcast, but it never gets nearly as bad)
If anyone compared his and his mother's situations though he would brush it off and say that his "situation" is nothing comparing to what was happening to her, and that there is actually nothing bad happening to him and he is fine!
And maybe he's partially right, like, he has at least some power over Vox and Vox has at least something that could be called "love" for him (which doesn't make it better if you think about it), while his mom could only pray her husband would be in a good mood today and won't be (too) drunk or/and violent.

AND CARMILLA LORE DROP LIKE ACTUALLY? A LITTLE BIT? A little bit of explanation, my headcanon that Carmilla ended up in hell couple decades before Alastor. And got reunited with her family AND THAT WASN'T A GOOD THING, because head of the family was some old af ancestor of her, and he of course was abusive as well. So yeah, Carmilla didn't have it good in her first years in hell. Was she specifically SAed? I will not confirm nor deny it. But this is why she's able to catch so easily red flags of someone going through abuse. At first just vibes, then more specific details.
But YOU. HAVE. NO FUCKING IDEA HOW MUCH I'M HOLDING MYSELF FROM DOING ANOTHER BONUS PART where Alastor has a severe mental breakdown and makes some poor desicions that only worsen it. And another part where Vox is actually being nice and sweet and it almost looks like that their relationships may not be as bad and may actually work. Almost. And another part where Vox notises the signs of Al's depression, gets conserned, but not enough to understand what that means and accidentally triggers a flashback for Alastor... and so many more. After all, they still have to live through [purposefuly obscured amount of time] of their "partnership", before Alastor finally gets out. Also bonus parts of their first year before sex, and how Alastor tries to keep living right after, and the pre-deal part of them talking after the bar scene... so. fucking. many. ideas. HELP. but i really wanna make the breakdown one. Someone even said that it hit harder than part 13, which i don't really see, BUT STILL.
YALL GET SEE IT ONE DAY I PROMISE, I just wanna get to the ending as soon as possible, because damn. this been going on MUCH longer than i expected. I mean, first draft had just 65 pages, and this part was supposed tobe like at page 35 or something. And because of how long it's going we're all getting little bit tired of it, including me.
Also, hey, the pride month started and I ACTUALLY HAD ANOTHER COMIC PLANNED FOR IT?? I promise the one i'm planning IS SHORT, LIKE AROUND 20 PAGES, and it's about origin of one of my weirdly specific Alastor headcanons, and it's for pride month because it's kinda starts from something on the topic of aceness, and the counsil (discord) decided that it fits the pride month lol. SO I NEED TO FINISH THIS COMIC ASAP!!!!!!!!!!

And then i was like, wait in darker version of IF vox does fucking both of these things (deal and hypnosis) and threw him into the mix. And while having all the assholes gathered in one place...

bonus, i somehow missed all the warnings that it's going to be about sex. so this is literally me while reading this fic
Alastor doesn't know how to give gentel no's and if he does then he doesn't trust himself not to back down when pushed.
When he has to tell Mimzy no to staying he comes off as completely cold. This is a huge change for the warmth he showed Mimzy when she showed up.
What does that remind y'all of.
He goes from being extreamly warm with Vox to extreamly cold the second he has to tell him no.
We see how dangous a weak no can be with Angel Dust in speed run to redemption. He gets pushed into something he doesn't want by his friends. That is litterly what Alastor is scared of.
We also see this same pattern when he trys to tell Rosie no about the hotel.

A little bit about relationships between Alastor and Carmilla. First of, I think Carmilla does care about any overlord and considers them... well, not friends, but people that are worth to be worried about. After her family, of course.
And she does care about Alastor too, and she would even have a soft spot for him... if he wasn't acting like a feral brat first few years, being especially mad that Hell has some formalities and he was tricked into accepting them. That behavior killed that soft spot before it could grow.
Though, by now she's learning to handle Alastor and their "love language" is trolling each other, and Carmilla starts liking it, especially when she manages to get on Alastor's nerves with something that isn't paperwork.
So, she thought that Alastor would be insufferable about his new "partner" and decided to poke at it first, considering that she had to bring that up anyway. But Alastor's reaction wasnt' what she expected, at all. It set her off and she started looking closely at him...
Alastor didn't know Vox applied for being an overlord. If he knew, he probably said something different and Vox would've gotten a protege status. But Vox decided that he doesn't need to tell Alastor about it and that Alastor would tell how "good" he is, and they don't need to discuss it. When Carmilla crumpled that paper, Alastor understood what had happened. And like, There aren't many overlords at this point, it's been like 30 years since Alastor wiped out old folks, so they need more new overlords. And Carmilla didn't have any real reason to deny Vox's application. But she did anyway, because Alastor didn't want him here, and that fact kinda gave Alastor feeling that he has an ally. Like, Rosie is good and all, but she owns his soul and also fucked up the last time they've seen each other.
Not like Alastor is gonna tell anything to Carmilla, but the fact that him not wanting to see Vox is enough to deny a potential new owerlord is... comforting.
And Carmilla can see and understand much more than Alastor realises.
