Melia’s nerves at meeting his folks had rubbed off on Gid a little by the time the night of their meeting took place. He wasn’t really worried about if they would like Melia or if Melia would like them. She was great, his folks were great, there was no way they wouldn’t get along. And being the youngest meant his parents had already gone through this twice now, both times had gone well. Still he really hoped she liked them, that she was comfortable at his folks. Even worried about if she’d like what his mum was serving. There was also his big sister. Molly had nearly choked Fabian and Ann both when he’d brought Ann home the first time, questioning her about babies and marriage. He figured there was no way he’d be getting out of those lines of questioning. With all the babies she was having Gid didn’t know why she needed everyone else to have any. Last time he’d said as much though he’d gotten a slap on his head. And Molly hit hard. But with Mike’s engagement the wedding questions would be in full force. Though maybe he’d luck out and they’d be aimed at Fabian since he’d been with Ann an eternity compared to Mike and Nicholson. The initial introductions had gone well, he’d managed to get them there before Molly and her brood arrived so Melia didn’t have to meet both Molly and his mother at the same time. When his mum had sent him to set the table and he’d dragged Melia into the dining room with him. “You don’t have to help I just figured you probably didn’t want to be left in there alone. Told you she’d love you.” He gave his girlfriend a quick kiss before getting busy setting the table.
Meeting Gid’s parents was a lot. It wasn’t a bad thing -- quite the opposite, in fact -- but it was a lot. Despite Gid’s reassurances, and her own certainty that his parents could really only be lovely people, she couldn’t help her nerves that she would say something stupid. Couldn’t help but wonder if he’d complained about her to his parents as much as she’d complained about him to hers before they got together. And then there was the thought of her own parents, and the fact that Gid would never be able to meet them. They would have loved him, she was sure, but it made her sad to know the meeting would never happen. Fortunately that thought was one that was easy enough to brush aside, as eclipsed as it was by her nerves. Though they’d been misplaced, of course, and as she followed Gid into the dining room she was already feeling slightly more comfortable now she’d gotten the initial act of meeting his parents out of the way. They were both just as warm and friendly as she’d imagined they would be, and she smiled when Gid pressed a quick kiss to her lips. “Thanks. I like her, too,” she answered, picking up some utensils as she added, “I don’t mind helping.” If anything, having something to do made her more comfortable than just standing around, and she was quick to help Gid. “So when do I get to see the embarrassing baby pictures?”
Christmas isn’t Christmas without hot chocolate in the kitchen and pretending like Mum and Melia made the treacle tart.
“Oh yeah? I bet mine’s better.” He couldn’t resist teasing her some more, especially when she flushed so prettily. Something he’d always enjoyed about teasing her. The fact that he could do it now without making her mad was even better. Whoever would have thought they’d end up in her living room sitting on his lap, he sure never thought that. But here they were and he really liked it. Getting to know Melia better he could really see how wrong he’d been about her in school. Well mostly wrong, she had been pretty uptight at school but it came from a good place not just wanting tell people what to do. Gid’s smile grew when she leaned forward and kissed him. “I like you a lot too. I like kissing you a lot too.” As if to prove the point he leaned up to kiss her.
“Agree to disagree.” Melia answered him with a giggle. Those were words she’d never have thought she would say to Gideon Prewett of all people -- but she wouldn’t have expected to be sitting on his lap in her apartment, either. It was funny, how the things that had bothered her so much about him in school were now some of the things she liked most about him. He’d gotten under her skin so much because he could match her, keep her on her toes -- and now that they weren’t pitted against each other she’d come to realize how much she liked that. How much she needed his goofiness when everything else in her life could so easily make her serious all the time, make her forget to have fun. Gid wouldn’t let her do that, a point he proved with the next thing he said. Melia could only grin widely before he was kissing her again, and this time she let it linger, let her fingers tangle up in his hair as her way of saying she also liked kissing him a lot.
“I do. But you’re good at everything so no real surprise.” His words were sort of teasing now but not much. Melia was good at a lot of things and he hadn’t been surprised she was good at kissing. More like surprised she hadn’t done it before. There was a little bit of pressure though being her first everything, he wanted her to have good first times. Plus there was a weird mix of trying not to go too fast but really wanting to see how far he could go. So far it seemed like he was doing pretty good. “Good,” he laughed as he spoke. “You are really cute.” He was surprised she had to ask but answered nonetheless. “Oh yeah, thought that was obvious. Guess I’ll have to make it clearer next time.”
As if it was even possible, Melia felt her cheeks flush even darker at Gid’s compliment. “Practice makes perfect,” she answered with a grin, before she added, “And I’ve got the best practice partner.” And she meant that; she may not have had anything else to compare Gid to, but she didn’t need it. She wouldn’t have wanted her firsts to be with anyone else, and she giggled again when he said she was cute, her smile growing wider at his answer to her question. It wasn’t so much the worry that he hadn’t enjoyed it, as the worry that he hadn’t enjoyed it as much as he had some other time, with some other bird. But that thought seemed silly, maybe, when he was smiling at her like that. “Just checking,” she answered with a sheepish smile, leaning forward to press a gentle kiss to his lips just because she could. She let out a soft sigh when she pulled back. “I like you a lot.”
Gid bit his lip at the sound of her voice, Merlin it was really unfair how much she was affecting him, especially now that she wasn’t even kissing him. “Guess you’re just a natural then.” He smiled at her before laughing again along with her. “I’d say we could definitely count that as a snog.” He let his hand stay on her arse but used his other to brush some of hair out of her face. “You like it?” Gid was really hoping the answer was yes because she seemed to like it and he really liked it.
His words had Melia’s smile widening, though there was a small part of her that wondered if he was just saying that to make her feel good. Either way -- it was working, and she let out a giggle. “You think?” As far as Melia could tell that had felt like a little more than snogging, but she didn’t like to think about what kinds of things Gid had done with other birds who were probably prettier and much better at it than she was. He didn’t seem to mind that this was new to her, and he’d never made her feel like she needed to do anything she didn’t want to. Only now she was finding there was a lot more she did want to do -- even now she was far too aware of his hand on her bum -- and his question had her laughing, touching her forehead to his as she nodded. “Yeah,” she answered softly, grinning widely at him. “I liked it a lot.” Another giddy laugh fell past her lips before her grin tensed up just the tiniest bit, brows tugging together slightly. “Did you?”
When Melia moved away from kissing him he had no inkling where she was heading next. He was just hoping she kept moving up, down would be good to but he was trying not to be greedy. A thought that was hard to keep in mind when her lips moved from his to his neck. “Bloody hell.” The curse was whispered, a groan immediately after because this felt really good. Though as she started giggling he found himself laughing as well. Merlin she was cute. “I thought you said I was your first kiss.” His tone was teasing as he twisted to try and look at her. It was as much from wanting to tease her as from needing a little break because things were getting a little heated and he didn’t think Melia knew exactly how much she was driving him crazy. Though she probably had a pretty good idea from where she was sitting. Something he did his best not to think about, he was supposed to be trying to cool off.
Melia was certainly aware that she was having some affect on Gid, though having no other standard of comparison she was unaware of exactly how much. All she knew was that she felt like her skin was burning in the nicest way possible, and these new things she was doing were thrilling in a way she had never experienced before. Also kind of strange, and maybe a little too much all at once, hence why she found herself giggling as she kissed Gid’s neck. Thank Merlin he laughed along with her before she could get too embarrassed, and it was with flushed cheeks and a sheepish laugh that she pulled away so she could look at him. “You were,” she answered, surprised by how breathless her voice was. Her hands slid down to rest at his waist, but she brought one up to his face, to play gently with his hair. “And now you were my first --...that,” she settled on with another giggle, unable to find a suitable word.
Gid didn’t have too much time to enjoy the fact that he’d caused that sound she made, he definitely should have grabbed her arse sooner. Before he could enjoy that she was doing something much better. Godric’s balls! He wanted more of that but he could tell by the look she gave him that maybe she wasn’t quite ready for it. Except honestly it wasn’t fair if she didn’t want to go there for her to go where she did when they started kissing again. Her fingers on his bare skin felt really good, not as good as her hip move from earlier but close. Gid had his fair share of romps in closets, underneath the quidditch stands, and in dark corners of the common room during parties. Having a bird grinding against him, even putting her hands up his shirt weren’t new things for him. But they were for Melia. And while he’d been ready for all of this ages ago he didn’t want to rush things or pressure her into anything she might not be comfortable with. He didn’t know if it was the wait or the bird but having Melia doing these things tonight was way better then those other times. A soft moan, slightly muffled by their lips on each other’s, would hopefully encourage her to keep going. It was nearly torture but a kind he didn’t mind going through at all.
Melia’s fingertips tingled in a way she’d never felt before as she moved them across Gid’s skin, and there was a part of her that wondered why she hadn’t done this so much sooner. Even more so at the sound he made, and it helped to quiet the tiny voice in the back of her head that was questioning whether she was doing this right. Whether Gid thought she was so much worse than Merlin only knows how many other girls he’d fooled around with before her. But she’d never felt like that was why he was with her, not at all, and as unsure of herself as she still was -- she felt safe, too. Comfortable with Gid. She just hoped he was enjoying this as much as she was. But it certainly sounded like he was -- certainly felt like he was -- and she dared to slide her fingers farther up his shirt, marveling at the feeling of his bare skin on hers, and it made her wonder what other parts of him felt like. What other parts of him tasted like. And since she was trying so many new things already, she let her lips leave his, let them trail down to his neck. She’d picked up a few tips about how this was supposed to work in Witch Weekly, and she put them to use, nibbling at his skin gently but unable to stop herself giggling slightly from the sensation.
Her reaction to his hands on her legs encouraged him to throw tentative to the wind. His hands moved up to her waist to pull her closer. A move that got a reaction from him as well, a moan muffled by their kiss. Bloody hell this was great. Her fingers on his chest, the bunching up of his shirt, all of it combining to make even less blood make it’s way to his brain. Which was quite alright with him. Gid had the sneaking suspicion he was either dreaming, which case he’d be waking up too soon, or Ann was gonna come home, probably with Fabian in tow. But if either happened he still had this moment. He dared to let one of his hands reach around and grab her arse gently. They were in a perfect position and frankly he’d been wanting to do that for a long time, might as well go for it dream or no. The worst thing that could happen was Melia telling him no.
Any space left between them disappeared when Gid pulled her closer, their bodies pressed together in a way that made Melia’s heart beat so quicky she was certain it was going to burst out of her chest. The sound that left his lips only made the heat that had spread across her body that much hotter, and Melia was struck by the feeling that she would be quite okay with melting into him. Her every last nerve felt alive in a way she’d never felt before, her body suddenly hit with a desire for more. More what she didn’t know yet, but then Gid gave it to her. A soft whine left her throat when his hand found her arse, but Melia was far too overwhelmed by the new sensations coursing through her body to be embarrassed by it. She didn’t know what to do with the feeling, but her body seemed to act of its own accord -- her hips moving ever so slightly against his, a sharp inhale her immediate reaction to the sensation that caused. She took a moment to catch her breath, looking at Gid with wide eyes. Too much, that was too much to try again, and instead of thinking on it any more than that she kissed him once again, letting her hand on his arm move down to the hem of his shirt, her fingers sliding underneath and sliding over his skin gently, tentatively, half waiting for him to tell her to stop and very much hoping that he didn’t.
Given the lack of blood getting to his brain it was a miracle Gid could speak at all and another one that he managed a good reply. “Very.” Lots of other replies had zoomed in his head but thankfully that was the one that had come out. Especially since it had very nearly been beaten by ‘are you fucking kidding me?’ because yes this was very okay. Having recovered a little, but only a little because Amelia Bones was straddling him right then and there was no recovering from that, not completely. This was definitely something he was gonna be thinking about for a while. Gid leaned up and somehow managed to speak, using real words even, despite being very close to her lips. “It could be even better though if we did this.” And with those words he closed the distance and kissed her again. His hands tentatively going to her legs instead of her hair or back.
The smile on Melia’s face widened when Gid answered, a giddy laugh falling from her lips as she smiled at her boyfriend. Despite her nerves, despite the unfamiliarity of their new set-up -- there was no urge to run away, no desire to be anywhere but exactly where she was, close to Gid in a way she hadn’t dared to try before. And the effect that had on her was startling, the way her entire body seemed to heat up as he leaned up, stopping with his lips tantalizingly close. There was only time for Melia to smile back at him before he closed the distance between them, and she surprised herself when a small noise escaped her throat as his hands found their way to her legs. Oh. That was new. And nice. Very nice. She kissed him harder, her own hand finding its way to Gid’s chest, her fingers bunching up the fabric of his shirt as if she could somehow pull him even closer than he already was, while her other hand moved down his arm. Bloody hell.
Even though he wasn’t always the best at being observant Gid was certain that Melia had gotten more comfortable kissing him. In fact Melia seemed to have gotten more relaxed with a lot of things. He was glad for it because not only did he like kissing Melia he really liked her. Though he was not prepared for her to be so comfortable that she made the move to straddle him. So far most of their kissing on the sofa had been side by side, he had pulled her into his lap a time or two but never like this. This was different. Very different. Very good too. Very, very good. Gid’s brain kind of froze at the this new situation not sure where to put his hands or what to do. He swallowed hard and looked up at her, “Gobstones?”
The earlier joke was completely gone. But he managed to smile back at her, albeit a little goofily and laugh. “I’m glad.”
Oh, Merlin. This was why Melia always planned things out, this was why she didn’t act impulsively, and Gideon Prewett had clearly been a very bad influence on her. Because now that her legs were straddling his -- she had no idea what she was supposed to do next. She’d been counting on Gid to possess some sort of bloke knowledge that would supplement what she did not know, but it was quickly becoming clear that wasn’t the case. At least he hadn’t shoved her off of him, as confused as he looked by her comment. “Uh -- yeah, ‘cause we said -- nevermind.” Melia gave up on explaining herself just as quickly as she’d started, and she let out a giggle that was half sheepish, half nervous. As unsure of herself as she suddenly was, it was hard to be upset over it when Gid was smiling at her like that, and soon enough her grin was reflecting his own, though she was still entirely unsure of what she was supposed to do now. “Um --...is this okay?”
Gid pulled an exaggerated disappointed face. “I am very disappointed. But willing to help ya find them.” The disappointed face dropped a smirk taking it’s place. Not only was he not getting up to look for gobstones but he wasn’t taking his eyes off his girl. Moving his hand up to her face he brushed her hair back. Leaning in he cupped her cheek with his hand and kissed her again, this time deeper. The little joke about gobstones left his mind as he focused on kissing Melia, perfectly happy to sit on the sofa and do nothing else.
Melia let out a giggle at the exaggerated look of disappointment that crossed Gid’s face, but before she could offer up a reply the goofy look was replaced by a smirk that had her breath catching in her throat. How was it possible that one look from Gid could have her heartbeat quickening, his hand on her face effectively erasing everything else in the room aside from the pair of them. She leaned into him easily, gobstones entirely forgotten as she kissed him back, her hand moving to his neck so her fingers could snake through his hair. Where she had been timid at first, kissing Gid had quickly become one of her favorite activities. And maybe it was just that she was growing more confident, maybe it was the way Gid managed to wipe just about everything else from her mind, maybe it was that he’d just invited her to quidditch -- but whatever the reason, she found herself daring to pull her lips from his just long enough to maneuver herself so she was on top of him her legs straddling his. Instantly she found herself slightly worried that she’d crossed some invisible barrier, so instead of kissing him again she grinned. “I like this way better than gobstones.”
Gid laughed heartily at her reply. “No way I love gobstones. Best game out there. We should play it now.” He grinned at her. There was a slight chance he was misreading the look she was giving him. It was still weird to think about Melia messing around with him. Hopefully she didn’t pull out a gobstone set. But he was a Prewett and it was a chance worth taking. And as a Prewett he couldn’t just leave it at that. Gid leaned in and gave her another kiss. This one longer then the last as he took his time kissing his girlfriend, oh yeah that wasn’t gonna get old anytime soon. As soon as he pulled back slightly after the kiss was over though he gave her another grin. “So we playing now or what?”
“Now?” It was Melia’s turn to laugh at Gid’s retort, and she lifted an eyebrow at him. Part of her was tempted to get up right then and grab a gobstone set, just to see what he would do, but before she could he was leaning toward her and gobstones were completely forgotten. Merlin, she didn’t know why she’d waited so long for her first kiss, except she was quite happy to still be kissing that same bloke. And less happy when that kiss ended. “Hm?” It took her brain a moment to catch up to his question, but when it did she grinned back at him. “Oh - right. Well the thing is, I’ve just remembered I misplaced my gobstones. I hope that’s not too disappointing.”
Gid was a little too distracted to pounce on her words, not enough that they went unnoticed though. Before he had a chance to say anything about her acceptance she was kissing him again, something he was very okay with. After their kiss ended he smiled over at her. “It should be fun game.” Now that he’d asked her the nerves managed to evaporate, thankfully. “So got any ideas for what we could do instead of practicing?” Nerves completely gone Gid looked over at her with a smirk. He had ideas, mostly involving kissing her some more but ideas nonetheless. Gid took her comment to mean she wanted to keep spending that time they’d devoted to practice together. That was an idea Gid was completely good with. It was already her time, he liked keeping it that way.
As Gid’s nerves dissipated, Melia felt some of her own settling in. She’d met Fabian and the McKinnons already, and she quite liked them -- but being included in quidditch was something different, and she just hoped she didn’t do something stupid. But those nerves were easy enough to set aside for the moment when Gid was smirking at her like that, and Melia felt her cheeks growing warmer. She, too, could think of some things they could do, but she wasn’t quite sure she had it in her to say those out loud. Yet. As it was, she was just happy with the idea of keeping that time set aside for her and Gid, and glad he seemed to like the idea too. “I don’t know,” she answered with a light shrug. “Gobstones, maybe?” There was a glimmer of mischief in her eyes as she added, “Unless you had something else in mind.”
Sometimes it was still hard to believe that Amelia Bones was his girlfriend. He smiled when she laced their fingers together. Leaning in to give her a light kiss after she talked, guessing what else she was thinking, or at least he was thinking it. It’d be nice but also scary. “You’re gonna be great. But ya know if you ever feel the need for a refresher session I won’t say no.” He was gonna miss their practices too. And as much as he wanted to say they could still do them he knew they were likely to be pretty busy starting real soon. Busier that was. He might not have an office in the Ministry to go to every day but he and Fabian didn’t spend all day goofing off and drinking firewhiskey, not most days at least. “We’re having quidditch this weekend. You busy? I mean if you are that’s cool I just thought you might want to maybe go. It’s fun. I’m gonna stop talking so you can answer now.” Gid took a small drink so he didn’t have to look at her deciding if she wanted to come or not.
Amelia smiled against Gid’s lips, still amazed that the electricity she’d felt the first time they kissed had not gone away. If anything it had only increased the more they did it, the more she got to know him, the more she came to like him. “Good. Same goes for you.” She paused for half a second, biting her lip and gathering her courage before she added, “Or we can just think of something else to do with our time.” What that something else was, Melia was almost afraid to say, and she was glad for the distraction his questions provided. Quidditch, and Melia’s eyes widened as she realized what he was asking. Unlike Tooker quidditch, the games the McKinnons and Prewetts played were a big deal -- and he wanted her to come. And -- he was nervous about asking her, and Amelia felt her lips tug up into a smile as he trailed off. Merlin, he was cute. There was nothing for her to decide on, and her smile widened. “No, I -- I’m not busy. I’d love to come.” And to prove it, she leaned over and kissed him again.
