mary lou has been through her fair share of ‘unfortunate circumstances’ in her life and honestly she just wants something to go her way.

after 154 years of existence, lou sacrificed herself alongside nora and was then taken to peace.

due to the fact that they died before having the chance to marry, nora and mary louise are still engaged ( though mary louise is adamant to change that as soon as possible ).

with it having been over a decade since her death, mary louise is struggling with her return to the land of the living -- the only thing making it worth while is being with nora.

all mary lou wants is to live her happily ever after with nora by her side, but new orleans and the brewing war with lucien are making that incredibly hard to do.

       ❝ now that you’ve decided not to rip my heart it, i suppose it’s only fair that i introduce myself. ❞ the blonde hummed softly before extending her hand towards the other. it only seemed fair that she offered him a bit of politeness given that he’d chosen to let her live. ❝ i’m mary louise. ❞

❝ Apparently it is - I thought it was just an invention of television, but I checked that infernal…what is it called?  Wikipedia?  And apparently it’s a real thing.  I can’t imagine dedicating your entire life to someone in a ceremony that you’re too lazy or drunk to get out of your car for, but people have changed a lot since we were born.  We certainly won’t be doing anything of the sort.  I already know where we’ll wed. ❞

       listening as nora did her best to explain her references, mary lou couldn't help but giggle. ❝ watching you navigate this modern world is quite adorable, my love. ❞ the blonde mused with a grin. hearing the brunette’s last comment, lou rose a curious brow in her direction. ❝ do you now? and just where might that be? ❞

       the heretic watched as the other extended her hand with hesitated for a moment before reaching forward to shake it. ❝ i’m mary louise, but mary is just fine if you’d prefer that. ❞

       ❝ Oh don’t I know it, ❞ Darcy quips, soft laugh falling from lightly painted lips. ❝ I’ve got a husband and two sons back home plus my husbands brother. I don’t blame you for swinging for our team. So much less stress to be completely honest. ❞

       hearing the blonde’s comment about how many boys she was surrounded by, mary louise couldn't help but laugh and shake her head in amusement. ❝ sounds to me like you are outnumbered. ❞ she mused playfully. ❝ that’s definitely one of the reasons. it also helps that my fiancée nora is an angel. ❞

       the first time that they had been thrown into the modern world, mary lou had struggled immensely to adjust. this time was proving to be a bit easier than the first. the fact that she had nora by her side of course was making it easier. ❝ that’s a thing that people do? ❞ mary lou questioned, amusement ringing through her voice. ❝ no that is definitely not something that is fitting for either of us. we need something extravagant. ❞

       Nora nodded. ❝ I never suspected otherwise. ❞ Other than that brief time when they’d been broken up, but that was a period of their lives that she didn’t much like revisiting and it meant nothing in the span of years that their love had endured. ❝ I would say we should do it tomorrow, but I want this properly planned out.  We’ve waited far too long for some garish fly by night ceremony. ❞

       ❝ so long as you know. ❞ the blonde mused with a gentle smile. there had been a time when she and nora had called it quits, but that was a time in the past that mary lou didn’t like to entertain. she’d much rather focus on the many years that they had spent in love with one another. ❝ as tempting as that is darling, i agree that this should be something we put a bit of effort into. ❞

       Brow lifted as blonde watched the interaction, soft laugh easing from lips as she gave a shake of her head. ❝ Boys, ❞ Darcy hummed. ❝ Will they ever learn to take a hint? Probably not. Will it ever cease to not be entertaining to watch them get to turned down? Definitely not. ❞

       hearing the other’s commentary, mary lou couldn’t help but laugh along with her. ❝ boys are a mess. ❞ she told darcy playfully, shaking her head in amusement. ❝ there’s a reason that my fiancée is a woman. ❞

       ❝ I should certainly hope not, because I would have to be mightily jealous of them, ❞ Nora smiled in return.  There was no life, no existence long enough for her to ever love Mary Lou any less, and she knew the opposite was just as true. ❝ I should certainly bloody hope so, we’ve waited more than long enough now and I don’t plan on taking a minute longer than necessary to make that happen. ❞

       ❝ there’s no need to be jealous, darling. you know that you’re the only one for me. ❞ lou hummed confidently. mary lou had been so deeply in love with nora for so many decades that there was no chance she could ever see her life with anyone else by her side. ❝ marrying you is something i should have been able to do before our demise, so it is something that is now at the top of my to-do list. ❞ the blonde hummed, brushing her fingertips across nora’s cheek.

       ❝ I’m sure that if I was single and looking to mingle you’d absolutely be my type, ❞ Octavia promised her, not wanting to wound the woman’s ego in any way if she could help that. ❝ But I’m extremely taken, and so I can honestly say I wouldn’t have noticed. ❞ She passed over the coffee without another thought. ❝ I hope you enjoy - they do make a very good coffee here. ❞

       ❝ you’re just saying that to make me feel better, but thank you. i appreciate the compliment. ❞ the blonde hummed with a smile. ❝ for what it’s worth, you’re gorgeous and your girlfriend is very lucky. ❞ mary lou mused innocently, wanting to compliment the brunette in return. taking the coffee in her hands, lou gave octavia another smile. ❝ i’ve yet to find coffee i enjoy, so i’m hopeful. ❞

       If he was to be perfectly honest, Klaus wasn’t much a fan of any other species. Tension flooded his frame, but that was nothing unusual as his brow furrowed and he turned towards the blonde ❝ call it an indifference, love. I just know you types like to travel in groups. ❞ That was the last thing that they needed. 

       ❝ Then ❞ he began, his brow raising slightly as he intended to offer some advice ❝ might I suggest you return to your fiancé and forget everything you saw. ❞

       the tension in klaus’ frame was rather easy to detect and only confirmed mary lou’s suspicions that he wasn’t very fond of her and her kind. ❝ well for what it’s worth, it’s just nora and i. we have no intentions of traveling in a group anytime soon. ❞ hearing klaus’ suggestion that she return to nora and forget what she saw, lou shook her head slightly. ❝ relax, i’m not gonna say anything. heaven knows i’ve done the same more times than i care to admit. ❞

       ❝ And for what it’s worth, that is a trade I wouldn’t make in this life or any other. ❞ While the visions were disturbing, even occasionally debilitating, she would bear them as the price of their resurrection without complaint.  A chance to live again, cured both of the ill that had been slowly killing Lou and the mark that had been left on Nora herself felt worth it all the same. ❝ Then content you shall be forevermore, as that’s how long I’ll be with you. ❞

       ❝ there is no one who will ever have my best interest at heart more than you, my love. ❞ lou hummed with a smile. while she hated that the two of them had been pulled from the peace they’d found, she was grateful to have nora by her side as she tried to navigate the land of the living once more. ❝ perhaps in this life we can actually wed. ❞

       Octavia’s lip trembled for a moment before she burst out laughing. ❝ Oh my gosh.  I’m so sorry if you thought - I was so not hitting on you.  Trust me, my girlfriend wouldn’t be happy about that either.  I was just offering you this coffee, because they made me a second one and I don’t need it. ❞

       the brunette’s laugh caused mary lou to release one of her own. ❝ i’m the one who should be apologizing. it was mighty bold of me to assume that i’m automatically everyone’s type. ❞ the mention of coffee quickly capture lou’s attention and she offered the brunette a nod. ❝ i would actually love to take that extra coffee off your hands. ❞

       ❝ Only apology that felt fittin’ in this place ❞ Dreas mused, tilting his beer slightly towards the blonde as the bartender fixed Mary Louise her drink. ❝ Don’t take this the wrong way, but you don’t seem like this is the type of place you visit often. ❞ His observation was passed with a slight raise of his brow, noting the put together appearance of the blonde. Something that certainly countered her surroundings. 

       ❝ can’t argue with that, can i? ❞ the blonde hummed as her british accent rang through naturally. hearing his comment about her not fitting into the scenery, mary lou couldn’t help but laugh softly. ❝ it’s not. i just happened to stumble upon it and figured it wouldn’t hurt to have a drink or three. ❞ she shrugged, taking her completed drink from the bartender before lifting it to her lips for a sip.

       The desert was quickly passed over to the blonde, waiting impatiently as she watched the other female taste the cupcake, arms folding over her chest in attempts to calm herself. ❝ Well, ❞ Roxie questioned. ❝ Good? Bad? Absolutely horrendous? It’s okay you can be honest. Promise you won’t hurt my feelings. ❞

       mary took the cupcake without hesitation and immediately took a bite from it, taking a moment to savor the flavor before she looked back at roxy with a smile. ❝ it’s delicious. of course, i didn’t expect anything less than that. you truly are a wonder when it comes to baking. ❞
