before the worst, suhyun x jiwon
Jiwon could hear the pain in her voice and it only made him realize how it seemed wrong. The girl was always happy, always. It was easy to stress her out, but it was different from making her sad. And that was what seemed now; he got to the point he thought he never would and realized how it sounded wrong. It didnât sound like Suhyun at all. How did we get here?, he thought, avoiding to look at her face.
âYesâŚâ, he murmured, his voice so low it could be mistaken by his breath. âThings seem differentâ. He thought of sitting down before his legs started failing with all the weigh he had been feeling over his shoulders during the last minutes of his day at work, but he just couldnât bring himself to give one more step.
Sighing loudly, Jiwon finally looked up at Suhyunâs eyes and felt speechless. What was happening? Why did he do that, why did he cause her so much pain? And though those were his thoughts, he got the guts to make things worse: âWhat are you trying to tell me, Suhyun-ah? Just say itâ. It wasnât fair to his best friend to make her say the exactly words, it wasnât fair to himself to hear that, but he caused all of that with that purpose. He was already broken for weeks doing that, he was feeling worse after hearing the bad news of that day. And still, he was just trying to make that day the worst of his whole life.
Suhyun looked down to her feet and as she put some of her hair back to behind her ear, she wondered why, why was Jiwon treating her like that, was that his way to show her he didnât want her anymore? Was those weeks of being rude to her or even indifferent simply him, her best friend, demonstrating he didnât want to be with her anymore? Maybe that was it, maybe it all came down to that and she was being fooled, thinking it would hurt him to break up, when it would apparently, bring only herself pain.
âHonestly, why are you like this?â She asks in a rush of courage, switching her glance from her feet to his eyes, firmily looking at him despite the tears that made it difficult, not only because it caused blurriness to her vision but showing him how weak she was when it was about him hurt her pride. âYouâve been less than pleasant these last few weeks, you have made me cry more this month than the whole time weâve known each other.â Suhyun starts to raise her voice as she begins to feel her rage take over her feelings. âItâs like somethingâs wrong, but you wonât even tell me things anymore, are we even friends as for now?â Clicking her tongue, she cleans her face with both her hands, shaking her head.
Turning around, she goes quickly to her closet, taking a huge box from there, she throws it on the floor in front of him, not even minding what was on the inside anymore. âDo you even know I kept all of these? Do you even care about us?â She feels her knees giving up on her as she gets more nervous and she sits on her bed, elbows on her knees as she passed her fingers through her hair. âIf you didnât want us to be a thing anymore, you couldâve been less of a coward and couldâve told me.â
