Reverse tropes that I love:

1. failed chosen one: The chosen hero fails their quest. Really, this is a variant of the fallen hero trope. Alternatively, perhaps the villain used to be the chosen one but failed somewhere along the way.

2. hate at first sight: Some people are just immediately unlikeable, before they even open their mouth. And once they do, it unfortunately only confirms how much of a jerk they are.

3. male damsel: Your boyfriend, male best friend, brother, son, Dad, whatever gets damseled and you, the female protagonist, have to save him.

4. genderbend surprise: A magic being turns the protagonist's body into that of The opposite sex to mess with them, only for the protagonist to discover they're actually much happier with their new body.

5. good intentions, bad deeds: A hero who has good intentions, always acts according to their ideals and is convinced they're doing the right thing. But their actions pretty much always harm others or have other catastrophic consequences.

6. unhelpful mentor: The mentor you've been assigned to help you on your journey is totally useless, a bumbling idiot who needs your help more than you need them.

7. not the chosen one: You think the prophecy describes your life to a T and get ready to save the world. But turns out the chosen one is actually your sibling/best friend who you've grown up with. No wonder the prophecy sounded a lot like it described your life.
