Trying to psych myself up for boxing tonight
I mentioned on here how I went to the first boxing taster class on Friday, and how excited I was to do it. I went again on Monday (only for 45 minutes because they had a lot of people and had to halve the time) and it was a lot of fun, but the thing is the classes are at a weird time at night, where eating dinner before is on the early side and eating dinner after is late. So I wind up going and being tired and hungry, and tonight the class runs for an hour and a half until 9 at night and I just already feel tired out from it and I havenât even gone yet! Basically, Iâm just trying to psych myself up for the class tonight. And what saps my motivation even more is that I forgot about the class tonight and made plans with my friend to help her out and she was gonna make me homemade tofu baozi (which is sooooooo good and I only ever have it when she makes it because I donât know how) so now Iâm sad because I had to cancel and Iâm letting her down and I really wanted that tofu baozi. So instead I get to go and be super tired at boxing. Which is silly because I really do enjoy boxing, but I donât like letting my friend down and it runs really late tonight and last time I went it was in this mirrored hall and everyone else was thin and healthy and ugh I just felt too self-conscious to really get into it, you know? But Iâve met some really nice people and its a good way to get some exercise in so I really should go. Especially since the classes are the only times Iâve made it to the gym this week, so it is really good for me. Okay, Iâm sucking it up and going! And in the meantime I will do a little studying and some cleaning and have lunch, and while Iâm cleaning I will buy a new makeup organizer as a reward for being responsible woohoo
This was a super long post, and it was really more to convince myself to go to boxing than for anything else, so congrats if youâve made it this far and thank you!

Aug 23rd || Studying literature this morning. Planning on studying Spanish in the afternoon. I still have so much left to do. But Iâll make the most out of it.
I havenât been on here (regularly) in so long! Never fear though, the new school year has started (and its my last one in Uni, dear god Iâm getting old) and I am going to do my best to be on top of things and also try new things. So today I went with my friend to try out this boxing club taster, we were both kind of terrified but we went anyways and it was so much fun! We ended up getting separated, but I met some really nice people and Iâm definitely going back. It was an hour and a half of circuit style workouts that I could barely do, interspersed with some fun boxing things - I did not realize just how much I missed having an accessible punching bag, seriously it was so much fun and I will definitely be spending a lot of my free time there. The boxing club meets twice a week, so my plan to be the healthiest me that I can for this year is to go to the boxing club on Mondays and Wednesdays and then go to the gym for cardio (and maybe some extra time with the punching bags) twice a week. So all total, the plan is to go to the gym four times a week this year. Thatâs doable, right?
I just got a blender a couple of days ago too, s I can make all sorts of yummy smoothies for myself at home now! Iâm about to run out to the store so I can stock up on frozen fruits. :D Other than that, I donât have too many updates. Classes havenât started yet, but I already feel like Iâm behind because of all this stupid dissertation stuff, and apart from being more responsible and on top of things and going to the gym regularly, this year Iâm making it a point to try new things and have more confidence in myself. I think by now Iâve learned that I have to stop waiting for things to be perfect or a specific way for me to have confidence - like saying âoh Iâll wear that cute dress when Iâve lost ten poundsâ or âoh no Iâll wear exciting makeup when I get a better haircutâ etc etc. I need to just start taking more pride in my appearance, and not worrying so much what others will think of me.
Let me know what you guys will be up to this year! Or, you know, if you have any smoothie recipes you swear by then I absolutely want to know! :)

indian carrot-ginger-soup
this spicy and comforting soup is perfect for rainy fall days. grab a good book and a cup of hot tea and your day is saved! ingredients: âą 1kg of carrots âą 1 brown onion âą Fresh ginger (about 2-3Â cm) âą 650ml water âą spices: turmeric, ginger, black pepper, garam masala, curry, a tiny bit of cinnamon and salt optional: vegetable broth
directions: peel the onion, the carrots and the ginger. steam your carrots until almost tender. chop the onion and the ginger in small pieces and put it in a pot with a little bit of water. cook until the onion is translucent, then add the spices (expect salt!) and cook for a moment. now you can add the water and the carrots and bring it to boil. turn down the heat and let it simmer for a little while. let it cool down a few moments and then blend (trust me and REALLY let it cool down, my blender almost exploded once because of the steam and I burned myself so badâŠ). transfer into the pot and heat it up. Now add salt and optional some vegetable broth âpowderâ.
this will serve two if you eat it with bread, three as a starter and one as a smaller main meal ï
