Herbalist's Tasks |Closed: Gnar, Red, Sho|
"Pleasure," Anders said with a small nod in both the newcomers directions.
He felt oddly out of place, what with everyone seeming to know one another already but if Gnar could vouch for the woman (Red, her name seemed to be) and she in turn could vouch for the boy (Sho?) then he supposed they had a trustworthy group of people.
"He’s a little on the short side," Anders said with a small chuckle. "But I don’t think he would tote a club of that size around and not be able to use it…besides, I think between the three of us, we should have this well in hand."
"But, to business I suppose," Anders said, reaching into his pack to pull out a map of the region. "The Healer’s Guild is running low on supplies due to a rash of sickness sweeping the countryside. We’ve been stretched to the breaking point and if we’re to keep our apothecaries stocked, we’re going to need some basic reagents; bloodroot and silverleaf."
"I’ll call them out if I see them but we’re going to travel between two locations," Anders said, unfolding his map and tapping a grove of trees near an open plain. "This grove of old growth should have enough decaying plant life to feed bloodroot and these plains are an ideal location to find Silverleaf."
"It shouldn’t be too rough of a mission," Anders said. "But should we encounter any rough characters, I’m afraid to say I may need some help protecting myself. Any questions?"
Gnar peered from his place upon Ander’s shoulders, glancing down at the scribbled map. He couldn’t understand any of it and he wrinkled his nose, shaking his head and skittering down the Healer’s coat to wobble over to his abandoned club.
He bounced on his toes for a second, dragging his cub towards Sho, before he gave a very tiny kick to the man’s boot with his paw. “Shuu anno reishu rega. Gnar maga.” He puffed up before once more tromping back to the center of the group.
The yordle hefted it up over his shoulder, grinning up at the three of them, settling on Red and pounding his chest with a tiny fist. “Gnar Anoota Demaglia!” His grin widened, tiny teeth and tusks visible before he glanced back to Anders, shifting excitedly. “Wanna edawhaba na?” Between his questions and the antsy nature of the orange fluffball, the fact he clearly wanted to set off was obvious.
Red gave a small nod to Sho before turning to Anders. “I’m Red,” she introduced, subconsciously pointing to her hair. She then blinked down to the orange and purple cat, crouching down to examine the club closer, “Oh, it’s not a toy?” Clearly she had grossly underestimated her furry friend. Regardless, she was going to keep an eye on it to make sure it didn’t hurt itself.
Once Anders pulled out his map, Red stood and walked to peer onto it, arms cross and foot rubbing the back of her bare leg. When it was question time, she looked to the man with curious azures, “I’m not familiar with the appearance of Silverleaf. I can tell my coals from my irons and my ore from my veins but herbs-” A short sing-song laugh. “- I’m not so versed.”
Red stifled a snort as Gnar kicked Sho’s boot, wondering how the cat would think that she found his gesture more cute than aggressive. “Aww,” she smiled, crouching down again to smoosh the furry face between her palms, “I’ll protect you too!” Letting go of Gnar, she rest an elbow on her knee and looked to the east, yellow halo protruding from the horizon.
Now that introductions were out of the way, Sho watched Anders and Red look over a map of the area, not really sure if he would have anything to contribute to the discussion. He wasn't sure what the plants they were going to search for looked like, but he figured it'd be best to leave that to Anders. The last thing Sho wanted was to pick up something poisonous.
"I won't be much help finding the plants either, but I'll be zetta helpful if we come into any trouble!" He lost track of Gnar - he was sure that's what the cat's name was - as that's the word it kept repeating. But when he felt a slight thump on his boot, Sho realized Gnar was speaking at him. Unable to figure out exactly what the cat was saying, he just gave it a small smile.
Watching Red interact with Gnar just solidified the idea that Gnar was extremely similar to a cat. As the sun was just starting to crawl into the sky, signaling the start of their expedition, he knew they would be leaving as soon as Anders gave them the word. Adjusting the shield on his back, Sho nodded at Anders, a silent confirmation that he was ready to head out.

Herbalist's Tasks |Closed: Gnar, Red, Sho|
"Gnar?"
Anders barely had time to reach out to the little pufball before he had shot past him like a furry orange rocket, out the door with that ridiculously large club cutting a path through the crowd and out the door where he started jabbering excitedly to the woman and the strange man who approached the pair of them.
Adjusting his coat, Anders followed Gnar’s lead out into the sunlight, leaning on the haft of his staff as he surveyed the pair curiously.
"It seems we have a mutual friend," Anders said to the woman while shooting a nod at the man. "You wouldn’t happen to be here about the healing herbs, would you?"
"I’m Anders," Anders said, glancing down at Gnar curiously. "Am I to take it that we have a party of four here?"
The yordle practically melted under Red’s hands, carefully reaching out to take off a chunk of bread (not the whole piece. He had gotten better with sharing.) and stuffed it in his mouth. He perked as he chewed on the treat, glancing up to the dark haired human who joined them. “Shugi?” He mumbled, his mouth stuffed full.
Then his Human approached and the yordle was practically vibrating on red’s lap. People where here. He wasn’t alone.
Gnar cast a quick glance up to Red, before hopping off her lap and scrambled up Ander’s coat, settling once more on the healer’s shoulders. He chittered happily for a moment before he took it upon himself to introduce his humans.
"Ndar." He patted Ander’s head with a paw, before pointing obviously at Red. "Demaglia." He sat up on his haunches, paws in his chest fur. "Gnar Shada!" Before his dark gaze swung back over to the other human, the one he didn’t recognize as he settled back sprawled over Ander’s shoulders like a furry scarf. "Shugi? Anno chotta?"
Red couldn’t contain her laughs as Gnar pawed excitedly into her sides, hitting all the ticklish areas. In the pre-sunrise luminosity, a familiar silhouette approached her and the orange furball paused to question the new face, jaws full of bread. “Sho, what a coincidence!” she smiled, brushing the grass from her hair, “Yes, Markul’s caught the illness going around. Would you believe that once we actually have money, there is no medicine readily available?” She shook her head with a hopeless sigh, “I’m hoping they can pay me in the medic— oof.”
Gnar scrambled off her lap, pressing an uncomfortable paw in her thigh. Another traveller had arrived. Red got to her feet and brushed herself down, giving a welcoming expression to Anders. “Indeed,” she hummed at the cat who’d taken his place on the man’s shoulders, “And I am. I hope I can be of reasonable assistance to your quest. All I ask is that I’m able to take some of the herbs home with me in payment.”
She watched with interest as Gnar introduced everyone, counting out the humans with her finger. “Where’s the forth?” she asked Anders, somewhat confounded.
Sho considered how serious the illness was if Red left the shop in search of medicine to help Markul. He heard of travelers getting sick back in Eori, but it hadn't been more than a couple dozen cases in the past few days. The little ball of fur leaped from Red's lap and onto the man Sho hadn't noticed before. Anders, the frail looking man from earlier, seemed to be the one who sent the notice to the different cities.
"It usually happens like that, when you need something, it's no longer available." At the mention of a party of four, Sho figured that Anders must have included the orange cat-thing, in the group. Seemed a simple enough task, just to collect some plants, and between him and Red, he figured it'd be safe enough. And Gnar - at least, Sho hoped that's what it's name was - introduced the other two, before looking at him quizzically.
"Right, I'm Sho. Nice to be working with you." It felt weird speaking to the orange fur ball and not knowing what it was saying in return. It didn't really matter all that much to their objective, as Sho doubted that they would run into any monsters. Although, when Red asked where the fourth was, Sho held back a laugh, apparently she didn't consider the cat a member of their expedition party.
