I remember when I thought
The world revolved around you
And the stars were charged by your soul
The universe painted in strokes
In time to the beating of your heart
If every freckle was a little victory,
And every curl a good deed,
Your face was the best of humanity.
But when you told me the world
You felt you had no choice
You took my innocent love for my world
And told me it wasn't right
That the universe, the stars, God was rejecting my love
But that's when the heavens listened to me
They knocked you off your divine pedestal
And God and I unplugged the stars from you
We painted over the canvas of the universe
With the veins of the good people
Each of your victories were remembered in the heavens
As failures, as humiliations.
And every curl straightened
Like the cruel, rigid nature
Of the hatred you'd spread.
Your face was plastered as wanted for manipulation.
But then He and his angels on Earth
Reminded me to be better than the criminal
And to forgive you of your darkness.
Now I await in tears of you the fated day
