#tbt Muslim youth handing out flowers and encouraging people to "meet a Muslim" in busy downtown #Chicago A few months ago in downtown Chicago on a busy Saturday afternoon, we met a bunch of awesome young people with the Muslim Youth of North America - https://www.facebook.com/myna.nation/. They were handing out flowers to passers by and holding signs that said, "meet a Muslim". Lots of people were stopping, talking, taking photos with the kids, smiling and laughing. These kids were spreading joy and dispelling misconceptions, by facing negative and dangerous stereotypes head on. As we continued walking, we saw tons of people in the crowded sidewalks with the flowers, a way to visual track how many people had been touched by this act of love and humanity.

This morning I blindly volunteered for #12kindsofkindness. Little did I know the chord this action would strike with my own history and our current political discourse. My family and I were Mexican undocumented immigrants for 12 years in the US, before we got lucky and were able to gain citizenship. This morning afforded me the opportunity to stand up against hatred, bigotry, racism and xenophobia with others in #NYC at #TrumpTower. I didn't realize how emotional it was going to be for me until I stood there holding a sign, remembering those 12 years, and where I am today because of my parents' courage and sacrifice to give my family a better life. So thank you @JessicaWalsh & @TimothyGoodman and all the other volunteers for this brave action. And thank you to my parents for risking everything to allow us to be where we are today. #StopHateDumpTrump "BUILD KINDNESS NOT WALLS. This morning we, along with 100 amazing and wonderful volunteers, built a kindness "wall" in front of Trump Tower in NYC for our last step of 12 Kinds of Kindness. http://12kindsofkindness.com/the-steps/dive-deep/story/ Excluding people breeds discrimination, hate and sometimes terrorism. History tells us that building walls, both physically and metaphorically, will only cause more problems. We simply cannot shut out people based on religion, ethnicity, race, gender or sex. Instead of building walls, let’s build more kindness and love. Let’s build more understanding and more acceptance in our country. Kindness is an innate quality that we all have as human beings. We need a leader who will be an example of this. Let’s stand up to this intolerance. Let’s not let walls tear us down. A peaceful protest that turned out to be an inspiring experience. Part 2: That time we met @heartfeltrevolution #Repost #nyc #5rhythms #dance #meditation ••• Here's what the encounter with @_hearthumanity looked like from our side. (Really fucking cute)

One of our greatest joys in life are those crazy encounters of coincidence that just seem so improbable, they blow your mind. We had the pleasure of one of these moments just before the new year. We had just finished a dance mediation class (#5Rhythms - check it out) and were talking to a few people afterwards. We figured out we had all been at #BurningMan this past year (surprise, surprise) and we started to share our experiences. Then this lovely women @emmadines gave us two felt heart pins and says it's a project she is part of, @heartfeltrevolution, where they make and give out these hearts as a sign of love and connection. As a thank you, we give her and her friends our Thanks For Being A Good Human stickers. Similar ideas, different gifts. One of the friends, Timothy, gets the sticker and looks shocked, confused and amazed. He shares with us that he had randomly run into his friend Amy at Burning Man, who he had met while teaching in #Japan several years ago. She gave him one of these #stickers on #thePlaya. The cool thing was, he had already seen these same stickers around his neighborhood in #NewYork, so he was surprised to get one all the way out in #Nevada, especially from her. And as it turns out, Amy is also a friend of ours from #Minnesota and we were the ones that gave her the sticker at Burning Man in the first place.  He then asks us how we have these stickers and we say that it's actually our project—we're the creators. At this point we reach a whole new level of connectedness, because after burning man, Timothy had traveled to #Austin with his girlfriend @lboner and had posted one of our stickers there and tagged us. We got that tag, and had liked it back, wondering who we knew down in Austin. Well, now we know! The connections continue. Sharing love and kindness from Japan, to #NYC, to #Reno, to Austin, to Minnesota and back again. We look forward to continuing to share this message of connection, love, and spontaneous positive interactions with people in 2016. We had an awesome time a couple of weeks ago volunteering with one of our favorite organizations in #NYC - @godslovenyc prepping food that will be served to thousands of New Yorkers who are too sick to cook for themselves. Thanks to @manseekinglight for organizing this awesome group of people and thanks to God's Love for <3ing humanity every day through their work. Gods Love is always looking for more volunteers, and another super fun way to get involved is by attending #BigLoveWeekend 2016, hosted by the amazing @JaseCannon, which raises thousands of dollars for God's Love every year. Our love goes out to everyone affected by the acts of terror in Paris yesterday. #prayforparis This love also extends to all those who are disenfranchised, living with hatred towards others, because we know they need it too. We believe that everyone has the capacity to be a to be a good human. But we must work at it.
