“How do you tell people? How do you tell them that you’re exhausted even though you slept for 10 hours? How do you tell them that you need a break from talking and smiling and simply being near them? How do you tell them that although you love them, you so desperately need to be alone tonight?”
— Midnight thoughts (I’m burnt out)
Self worth comes from God. Not your achievements. Not from people. Not from outward appearances. Not from materialistic possessions. But from God alone.
-Relentless Woman
We’ve been talking a lot in church these last few weeks about the word blessed and how it isn’t just having good things happen to you. Being blessed isn’t having a nice house or being able to afford eating out several times a week or having things feel relatively easy. No. Blessed is a joy that comes through a relationship with Jesus Christ, and only through a relationship with Jesus Christ. So when Jesus said, “Blessed are those who mourn…” He meant that even in the darkness, there is light. He meant that even if you’re in the thick of it, or even if it’s something that’s in the past but still feels fresh, you can find joy. You can find peace. He meant that no matter the hurt, the sorrow, the wound, joy comes in the morning. He meant that the mourning is temporary, but His love is eternal. Through brokenness comes blessing. It’s one thing to hear this or read it when you are in a place of comfort, though, and another to try and remind yourself of it when you’re hurting. Another to live it. Living it is hard, y’all. But we’ve got to try. Blessed are the poor in spirit Blessed are those who mourn Blessed are the meek Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness Blessed are the merciful Blessed are the pure in heart Blessed are the peacemakers Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account Blessed are you Blessed are you Blessed are you
Be still and know
So this week I bought a sign that says “be still and know,” and at first I thought it was kinda ironic because I’m that person that’s constantly got somewhere to be or something to do. To me, being still means setting everything down and literally being physically still, spending time with God and not on anything else. Which is something I don’t often get to do, especially lately. But yesterday, as I was running (sometimes literally) from one obligation or appointment to another, I realized that isn’t always necessarily true.
Sometimes, being still and knowing that He is God doesn’t have to mean stopping in the middle of the day to read the Word or listen to a sermon or what have you. Sometimes, it means looking out the window in the middle of a meeting and taking two seconds to appreciate the beauty of the sunset and the majesty of our Creator. Sometimes, it means looking around you while walking to campus and appreciating the uniqueness of each person around you, appreciating that they are each loved and cherished by their Creator. Sometimes, it means jamming along to worship music in the car on the way to the next thing to check off your list and really getting lost in God’s love.
Sometimes, being still and knowing that He is God simply means that we still our hearts and calm our minds and get lost in the wonder and awe that is worshiping our God.

PERFECT PEACE
What exactly is perfect peace?
perfect peace - freedom from all disturbances in this world and within your soul
1) What is this great blessing that is offered to us?
- Peace is perfect in quality
- Peace is perfect in quantity
- Peace is perfect in constancy
2) How does this perfect peace come to us?
- by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7)
- by the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22)
- by His Word (Psalms 119:165)
- by our obedience (Leviticus 26:3-6)
- by plenty of peace and prayer
3) Two conditions are mentioned in order to have perfect peace:
- whose mind is steadfast
- who trusts in You
You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in You. - Isaiah 26:3
Acts 14
(Acts 14:1-7)
Doubt is poison.
Keep persevering, even when people don’t originally believe. Keep lovingly evangelizing.
Not everyone will be for you. Keep serving the Lord. He will protect you from your enemies.
(Acts 14:8-20)
Don’t idolize people. They are only human and they make mistakes, too. They are not better than you; you are not better than them.
All the good in you is from Jesus and His grace in your life. Remember this. Stay humble, stay servant-minded.
God can resurrect any situation and bring good out of it, no matter how bad things seem.
(Acts 14:21-28)
Keep doing good and telling people about Jesus. You will win hearts to Christ and you will be strengthened. Don’t give up on loving and helping.
You will have to go through many hard things in life, but it will all be worth it in the end.
Tell people about the good things God has done in your life. It will encourage them and remind you of His goodness and mercy.
