There is evidence to support Peter being Juliet as well as Jason being Juliet. Jason wants to be with Peter in the safety of the night, "I have night's cloak to hide me from their eyes." But it can be claimed that night is not dark for him:

This would refer to Peter's eyes, but it's also referred to the other way around. Peter also sees that beneath the night sky, under night's cloak they're safe.

Peter might be the sun, the light that through yonder window breaks. Simultaneously Jason can have eyes brighter than any stars. Now that he's dead, his eyes are shining in the sky and morning comes even without sunrise.

The last name "Simmonds" can be derived from "Sigmund" which is based on Germanic words meaning victory and protection.

Robinsonade: a story about being marooned on a desert island or some similarly inhospitable place.

Breaking up with Peter caused Jason to strand and Ivy is a desert island to him because of his homosexuality.

The name Peter means rock, and we can all agree he is Jason's rock. It also represents how strong he turns out to be. "Jason" is of Greek origin and means healer. (Ironically, ivy represented fidelity and eternity in ancient Greece. "I'll be with you always")

The name Jason also means "the Lord is salvation", and that idea shows in the musical.

"Matthew" means "gift of God" and it's clear that Matt knows that.

I’ve listened to this song from another musical a ton of times and then I started thinking about it in relation to Bare.

I wonder if Peter was the first person to tell Jason he loves him? Nadia clearly loves her brother but I don’t think she’d outright say it because of their upbringing. This spoken part of the song:

“Dave: Has anyone ever loved you?

Lee: Where I grew up they had this picture of Jesus on the wall. Hippie-looking geezer with a beard. They told me he loved me. I thought, well that's all right then, innit? When I die I'll meet him.
