I find it incredibly ironic that the majority of people in the Pokemon community reblog/make posts about how corporations are bad BUT THEN GO AND DEFEND POKEMON LEGENDS ZA LIKE THEIR LIVES DEPEND ON IT.
No the game isn't good. Ignoring stuff on a technical level the story and characters suck. Yes there is some funny stuff but most of the characters feel like that's their entire purpose. The story feels rushed and is just boring compared to the other games. It feels like Gamefreak had cool ideas but didn't know how to put them together so they got out the Ducktape.
The whole Rust Syndicate feels thrown in. Now I haven't gotten past them yet but the way they were introduced was bad. It's literally you see your rival has disappeared and Team MZ meets up and talks before your phone rings and that's when you find out your rival made a deal with the local loan sharks. After that you go to the building and sort things out with Corbeau and then return to the hotel. Your rival comes in and says oh sorry for being late this is what happened. Then they tell you that they helped a rust grunt and the rust grunt asked if they can repay them your rival says they want to make an ad and need money. So the rust grunt sets them up with a contract. Now mind you the Rust Syndicate is apparently notorious for bad business as mentioned by Lida. SO WHY DID YOU'RE RIVAL MAKE A DEAL WITH THEM?! IS THERE NO OTHER BANKS IN LUMIOSE CITY?!
Also the whole rogue mega evolution thing is boring. It just there it doesn't feel threatening and if I'm correct the whole rogue mega thing happens because of some stuff that happens a long time ago which is boring because there is zero foreshadowing and nothing really feels or looks suspicious which is bad because you want your viewers to be making theory's on where the story will go next.
Also I don't Like Canari, in fact I hate Canar. When you pay attention to her dialog she's a self centered brat. She literally gets her grandpa to do hologram meetups for her because she can't be bothered to walk away from streaming and playing games. When you get matched to her in the Battle ZA you have to do an entire questionnaire and beat it so you can ask her to battle you. Then you have to hunt her down because she refuses to touch grass. In fact I think she has forgotten what grass looks like. Once you find her you have to battle her grandpa first and when you finally get to her she whines about having to fight you before actually having to fight you. When you defeat her she says a bunch of angry symbols because she's mad she lost and in her own words says she usually doesn't mind losing because her fans keep cheering her on. Welcome to the real world sweetie. When you get back to the hotel the dialogue options are basically "oh she was nice outside of the camera." NO SHE'S NOT?! YES SHE DID HAVE THE REALIZATION THAT SHE NEEDED TO WORK HARDER PUT IT WAS MORE OF A "Oh I should get better at battling!" I can't tell if she's supposed to be mocking streamers or not because this entire game has held your hand, telling you stuff upfront and (correct me if I'm wrong) Scarlett and Violet had Iono who loved her fans and from what I've seen in the Pokémon Master Ex she cares and does her best to make sure they are having fun and enjoying her streams! I don't think Gamefreak has the brainpower to think to themselves "let's make a character that's poking fun at streamers!"
That's some of my tangent stuff but there is a lot more crap wrong with this game. Pokemon is literally one of the largest franchises and there pushing out mediocre games. But to make sure nobody gets ahead of them so they can keep being lazy they sue anyone that they deem to make any form of competition.
I'm so sick of people saying "Well I thought the game was fun and anyone who says anything bad about it is a old fart that hates on anything new!" And the other side of the argument is "PNG windows." Which yes is annoying BUT THEY HAVE A POINT! LEGENDS ZA AND ALL THE OPEN WORLD POKEMON GAMES LOOK LIKE GARBAGE COMPARED TO DIGIMON STORY: TIME STRANGER, BREATH OF THE WILD AND TEARS OF THE KINGDOME, MOST OPEN WORLD GAMES. STOP HAVING THE EXCUSE OF "Well it's just Nintendo and Gamefreak!" THEY MAKE TONES OF MONEY AND CAN AFFORD MAKING BETTER GAMES! IT'S FINE TO LIKE THE GAME WHAT'S NOT FINE IS SAYING THE GAME IS GOOD AND SHUT DOWN ANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE GAME! THIS WHOLE DUMB RANT I WROTE DOESN'T PROPERLY SCRATCH THE SURFACE OF ISSUES WITH LEGENDS ZA. A GOOD VIDEO I RECOMMEND IS THE LEGENDS ZA VIDEO DONE BY JUDGEMENTAL CRITTER SINCE THEY GO INTO THE TECHNICAL STUFF AND SCUMMY STUFF NINTENDO HAS DONE. I MAKE A VIDEO MYSELF WHEN I FINISH IT! I KNOW IT'S A TERRIBLE PRACTICE TO RANT ABOUT SOMETHING BEFORE YOU FINISH IT BUT IN MY MINOR DEFENSE THESE ISSUES GO ON FOR HOURS OF GAMEPLAY AND I FEEL LIKE PLAYING LEGENDS ZA IS A CHORE PLUS BY THE LOOKS OF IT THESE ISSUES AREN'T GOING TO SUBSIDE.
