It's been awhile since I visited the #Morgott esp the xreader which I absolutely adore. I've been playing elden ring for the past few months. And Nightreign. It's a delight when the grumpy man shows up lol. Anyway I've lowkey been daydreaming and since there's nothing new in the # I'm gonna try my hand at writing some Morgott x reader imagine. I don't think I've ever seen someone do a grace given reader, so without further ado:
You were of grace. Blessed, vibrant and pure. And he was an omen, bound for his entire childhood and most of his adult life to the darkened depths of the Leyndell sewers, fumbling in the shadows with other cursed creatures.
But then the Shattering happened and Morgott fled the sewers, taking over as The Veiled Monarch. He fought off Demigods and their armies, defending Leyndell with his life. Protecting the Erdtree and the Greater Will's ideals. And he won for the most part.
Though grace given, cursed he still was and so he kept his identity tightly under wraps, praying not a single soul would ever reveal this terrible secret. They all looked up to him. Revered him. Praised him. He wouldn't let them down. Couldn't. It had been well for centuries and not a single soul knew until you walked in.
You were curious. Mind-numbingly curious and boredom had led you to him. For all your childhood you wondered just who this mysterious king was. Was he cruel or kind? Handsome? Old? Powerful like in the tales told? Well, you were quite surprised.
Morgott had been caught off guard by your appearance and utterly horrified as were you. He couldn't bare to see those golden eyes look upon him and with such fear too. You ran away. Morgott couldn't bring himself to chase, so he simply waited and waited and waited. Bracing for the sounds of several boots and clinking armour, but it never came. Morgott felt sick and did not move from the spot he was left in since you ran away.
Morning came. Pinks and oranges meshing with the golden light of the Erdtree. He lived to see another day.
Eventually you do come back. You're weary. Scared. Afraid that he'll eat you or something. That's what an omen did, right? They growled and groaned and pillaged and hurt those blessed by the Erdtree. That's what you've always been told. One time, when you were young, you saw an omen in chains being dragged through the streets. You were told that they were savage creatures that only meant to harm and that's why they were graceless abominations. But this omen hadn't hurt you or chased you like a feral beast. You kept wondering why he was up by the throne room until it had hit you that night. Veiled. Unseen. Unknown by anyone for centuries.
"Tell me, omen. Why did you leave me?"
You stood, ready to bolt if things started to look shady.
"I mean not to harm thee. Thou...art of grace. Blessed unlike many. A rare sight in times of these..."
He rumbled a response, orange eye averted from mine like he was too ashamed to look at me. In truth, he did not feel worthy. Morgott always held those born of grace in high regards no matter who they were or how they acted. He might have been the king, but he was still a cursed being.
You seemed to ease up at his response. He was well spoken for an omen.
He shook his head, keeping it low.
"Nay. Should I ever, may the Golden order strike me down where I standeth."
You straighten up with pride.
Fear fades quickly in someone who feels untouchable. And the ego grows.
"I can tell then from your actions. You're the Veiled Monarch, are you not?"
Morgott's blood ran cold and he felt it impossible to breathe momentarily. His tail lashed back and forth as if it was contemplating for him. What to say, what to do. In the end, he couldn't deny it so, solemnly, he nodded. For a long while you said nothing, silence stretching into the ambience of leaves falling in the wind and the distance song of the oracle envoys.
"Worry not. I will keep your secret, but allow me this; to come back once and awhile. I have many questions to ask."
That was the start of many, many visits.
(Lwky my bad if it kinda sucks. I don't write stories like at all but this lack of Morgott content is driving me insane. I'm biting the bars to my cage.)
