Look at it this way: No one thought Joe Theismann was soft for leaving the game when his leg was hanging sideways. Sometimes the brain goes sideways, and when that happens, “brave” or “cowardly” shouldn’t even come into it. Seeking help is just the practical thing to do.
I don’t usually pay attention to football much (at all), but this is important.

The Wall
“Auf die Platze”, silence around me. “Fertig” one last breath “Boom” Reflective my feet jerk me forward My vision momentarily blurred Just hearing the sound of my feet Slapping on the track. “Schneller” My coach demands from the side. I need to listen. I need to go faster But how fast can I go? Lactic Acid builds. Pain is unbearable. Why not stop? Is it worth it? Du spinnst! This is the last time I am ever running a race. I have hit the wall. Body is saying no. Mind is saying Go. Finish this one race Prove it to yourself. A mental sledgehammer breaks the wall. Was machst du fuer stress? Alles easy. I speed up, extending my stride. Where has the pain gone? Endorphins are race savers. I’m the one people should be scared off. The cheers around me hit me. Gib alles! I close in to the last meters, push through the finish. I have won. I smile. Why would I ever want to give up? It’s for moments like this. That I work my butt off.

this is a great book, especially if you're a distance runner. I'm not, but I still found it absolutely fascinating. It also kind of made me want to run an ultra marathon.
