a face update: still got one
My name is Taylor/Taykout (34M) and I currently live in a pretty red state in the US… Taykout McCleod needs your support for Support Taylor:
shooting the biggest shot with this one, but I'm gonna try. feel free to read and ask any questions, feel free to share, and don't feel pressured to help or do anything outside your means!
Update 5/6: I'm gonna be so fr with this, I have no irl support system, no roof, no idea where I'm going or how I'm gonna get past this. I'm trying to not have a meltdown, obviously with varying degrees of success. I'm trying to not lose whatever will to keep going I've still got. I'm not in a safe place. I left one unsafe place and wound up right in another. I need a safe place and a roof over my head to accomplish anything, and those are things I don't have access to currently. if anyone is able and willing to take in a stray, I'll figure out how to get to you. I don't care anymore, I just don't wanna go out like this and I'm scared I'm about to go out like this. I don't expect anyone who isn't qualified to do any of the emotional health heavy lifting of that, that's nobody's job but mine or a therapist. but it sure would be nice to have a roof where I can learn how to lighten that load!
what do we think

Hey, so if you have Windows 11 installed and have been losing your mind over the fact that you can't find your own files because Windows is now prioritizing internet search results first, you can fix it by following this guide:
Stop the OS from pulling up web results when you just want files and apps.
As someone with over 900 GB of intentionally and properly named files on her computer (I do a lot of digital art and digital media work that requires high-volume files that function off of dependencies), this feature was making me furious. I followed the above instructions and can confirm that the method outlined solves the problem.
I have just tried this, it works and the explanation how to do it was so user friendly and clearly laid out.
10 and 11 are also kinda secretly adding Windows Copilot to your computer when you're not looking. Even without software updates. You can follow this guide to disable Copilot
Completely disable Copilot in Windows 11 in just a few simple steps.
The guide uses a program called gpedit (group policy editor), if you can't find it on your computer, follow this guide to install/enable it, and remember to always run as administrator:
Run these commands in command prompt.
Win + Q
Search: command prompt
Right-click > Run as admin
Copy, paste, and enter these commands:
FOR %F IN ("%SystemRoot%\servicing\Packages\Microsoft-Windows-GroupPolicy-ClientTools-Package~*.mum") DO ( DISM /Online /NoRestart /Add-Package:"%F" )
FOR %F IN ("%SystemRoot%\servicing\Packages\Microsoft-Windows-GroupPolicy-ClientExtensions-Package~*.mum") DO ( DISM /Online /NoRestart /Add-Package:"%F" )
Test it by opening Win + R
Type: gpedit.msc
See if it opens
if you're going to touch a command line anyways i cannot recommend Raphire's Windows 11 Debloat script enough. It also works with 10, and has a quick start section that has a copy & paste command. just running it with the default options is enough and it'll do all of what this post brings up, disable telemetry and more.
when i setup a new computer at work this is always one of the first things i run on it because it saves a lot of time messing around with settings and group policies
A simple, easy to use PowerShell script to remove pre-installed apps from Windows, disable telemetry, remove Bing from Windows search as wel

I'm knitting in the corner at a party
and guys my age stop by to tell me I remind them of their aunt, of their grandmother. This is a compliment and I take it as such. They confess to having tried crochet once, and I smile. They get back in line for the bathroom.
I'm knitting in the corner at a party and a queer woman sits on the floor next to me, arranges her skirt, and smiles up at me. (I try not to blush.) She asks me all the questions on her mind about my craft and I answer them, hands still moving. We swap yarn sources. She doesn't stay, but she knows where to find me.
I'm knitting in the corner at a party and everyone knows where to find me when they need a minute, when socializing is too much and the music is too loud and they need to catch their breath. They pretend to be checking in on me, which is sweet, but I can see the relief in their eyes the moment they stop performing for a house full of people. They sit down and tell me things and all the while they never take their eyes off my hands.
The party has wound down and I'm still knitting and the hosts, two guys in their twenties, thank me for "helping to curate the vibe." I had no idea that's what I was doing. I leave the party having forgotten to drink anything and without that woman's number but with many rows added to my top-down raglan sweater. I call it a night, and a good one.

"Then I'll take a gulping breath and redirect my focus to how unbelievably grateful I am to be in my thirties rather than eighteen, having constructed a life that's sometimes just as painful as before, but that feels more and more each day like my own. "
