Some images from my yet to be finished picture book project. I am illustrating a well known Norwegian folk tale - Little Freddie and His Fiddle (in Norwegian: Veslefrikk Med Fela). It is a short story but I’m planning to make a book of around 40 pages.
The major idea behind this project was to ‘refresh’ the story by contemporary illustrations in contrast to two original (beautiful) illustrations made by the great Theodor Kittelsen.
You can read the story in English here.
I usually try to stop myself from turning everything into a pattern
A selection of images from my picture book inspired by a Norwegian legend and a song by a band called Lumsk.
The legend talks about the Trolltindene mountains, which were created when trolls were on their way to a wedding but because they were careless and lost track of time the Sun caught them and turned them into stone. Where they stood, they stand still today - as mountains.
Time was forgotten and the night was long They joked and laughed and giggled And as they drank and laughed and sang Approached the inevitable crisis
