Sometimes I think things are bad, but then I remind myself that at least I'm no longer married to a man who would throw his wedding ring out the window and make me go fetch it. At least I'm no longer married to a man who would keep yanking the pillow out from under my head and ripping the blanket off me while I was trying to sleep, all night long, over and over again. And when I start thinking about it that way, I feel an immense sense of gratitude for my life as it is.
