ive been thinking about this for a while, about how the way jax is treated by some fans irl is a really bitter reflection of her status as a closeted trans woman. it feels like it adds to the tragedy of it in a way. i see so many fans vitriolically referring to her as a man, refusing to think any further and only thinking they see some sort of predator and abuser. insisting she is irredeemable and should be shunned by the only people she has in her life. jax isn't real but even so, her actions are treated as if they are. "jax is just gooseworx's favourite" yeah. why do you think that is? what is she putting of herself in jax? why do you automatically assume this means the transfem creator must be a violent and abusive person instead of anything else? why do you say you want to see more messy female art but make an exception in this case? the whole thing feels like metatextual performance art.

pet peeve that happens more often than you would both think and want

I wonder how many of these artists who draw Jax as a "femboy" "I look like and dress like a woman but I'm not actually a woman haha isn't that brave and subversive" types will actually draw Jax as a woman if/when she's revealed to be transfem.

Because there are a lot of people who consider themselves progressive, yet I can't help but feel like they would be so much happier if Jax was a drag queen instead of a trans woman. Makes you think.

Someone asked for transfem Jax evidence, so I guess I now have a list of it ready to go:

The showrunner drew him taking progesterone taking progesterone one time

He has a somewhat feminine room with trans flag colours (both the characters rooms and bodies are supposed to represent their mind files)

There were also visibly trans colours in his eyes once

He called himself an egg on screen once

(merch ad) When Jax is told he looks cute in the maid dress, his eternal voice says "oh no, she's right though" complete with pretty music and sparkles

He got jealous over a canonically trans characters ability to change their body (also refused to change into a swimsuit like everyone else in the exact same scene)

He also genuinely looks more comfortable in the maid dress than normal as soon as eyes are no longer on him

Was the one to press the button in a red pill/blue pill matrix reference

Jax's greatest fear is that he will have his mask forcefully torn off to reveal who he is inside, causing everyone to laugh at him and consider him a freak

Is implied to dislike his name and appearance as it is

Has weird issues regarding masculinity and apparently bullies the girls due to "unresolved issues around women" that are implied to be jealously

Possibly accidental references to I saw the tv glow such as an image of Jax entirely filled with static

Aforementioned canonically trans character mysteriously jokes that the dress seems fitting for Jax and that they thought Jax would be into this.

When a fan said Jax could've been feeling dysphoric in the maid dress, the show's creator said that she doesn't think Zooble (the canon trans character) would be that cruel and that they had a "different agenda"

When asked why Jax disliked the maid dress, the show's creator Gooseworx said it was because he wasn't ready to ask these questions about himself

Gooseworx said it would be really funny if Jax became a tumblr sexyman considering what happens in the show (please note that it has been proven time and time again that neither dying nor becoming evil disqualifies a character from becoming a tumblr sexyman)

Jax is the transfem creator's favourite character, self insert and the one she said she'd become if she ended up in the circus. She has projected her own dysphoria onto Jax a few times like the progesterone doodle, the time she drew Jax visibly having a bad time (going through dysphoria or period cramps or something) when she was feeling bad or.... that recently deleted tweet Jax having gone to conversion therapy and it having messed up all his relationships, taken once again from her own experiences of conversion therapy.

Okay so I was thinking about this post right. And I remember ppl kind of disputing this saying that Kinger wouldn’t really notice or react to the bullying so it’s not worth it to Jax to bully him. And for Caine he literally has power over them and to Jax it’s best not to bite the hand that feeds you. As like reasons for why this cannot be about Jax bullying the girls because of closeted transfemininity but rather because they’re the only available “targets” I suppose.

Except that’s not true. Why would Kinger being crazy make him less of a target? If anything that’d make him even MORE of a target because he would LITERALLY not stop the bullying! Jax could throw him into a deep fryer and when Kinger comes out he’s say “thanks Jax”! And for Caine, before episode 8, Zooble is shown being harsh (although it’s kind of more justified since it’s related to their grievances with their imprisonment and being forced to play adventures by their warden) towards Caine and even getting on his nerves! But getting like no real punishment from Caine as he just kind of hides his negative feelings. You mean to tell me Jax can’t also pick on a target that literally wouldn’t punish him for it or verbalize their frustration?!?!??

And another thing, TBXskyen points out how Jax gets the closest to Pomni, during the gun game that is the most masculine appealing of games they’ve played before! And Pomni plays to that more masculine role and in that Jax finds comfort and lets his mask slip a little with her and actually has fun with her! It’s until she does something “girly” by hugging him that he wakes up to the reality he was having fun with a girl and his mask comes back.

JAX IS DELIBERATELY BULLYING FEMININITY! SHE IS SUCH A REPRESSED TRANS GIRL! (Not that that is any excuse for her behavior, but come on you have to see it!)
