debunking ‘dante isn’t non-binary’ arguments
if anyone tries to argue with me on this, please refer to the list below
arguable the dumbest for several reasons.
1. it is the name of the person dante is based on, like every other sinner
2. every female sinner is based off and named after male characters yet they are still referred to as she/her
3. there is a female character in library of ruina called dante. clearly there are no restraints with what name suits what gender in project moon (edit: dante in lor is also non binary!! i was unaware of this, but they are feminine presenting, which is more evidence for why dante’s name has nothing to do with gender)
2. they don’t have their memories, so ‘they’ is a placeholder
1. the panther and the wolf, who knew of them prior to the memory loss, referred to dante as ‘they’
2. surely, granted there were no prosthetics involved (which in of itself is a new argument), they could… check, right?
3. they have plenty of identity outside of pronouns, so they could choose one if they wanted to
3. they are a self insert for the player
have you… played the game?
1. outside of battle, you make no choices for dante. their appearance, name, personality, and choices are not chosen or influenced by you. it would make more sense to argue this for a game like twisted wonderland, but in limbus company, you are simply an onlooker
4. headcanoning them is no different than headcanoning a character as trans
1. using he/him for ryoshu or she/her for hong lu is different because these headcanons are made to represent, while using he or she for dante is meant to erase
6. it’s dumb to make a whole tumblr post defending a fictional characters pronouns
well yes. but it’s dumber to go online and actively be bigoted towards a fictional character so i think i win here
