Sat within the comfortable purgatory I have come to love, I know that around the corner there is a valley of wonders.
Morning Poem #3 (man-flu)
I fill my mind with pulsing electronic music and lemsip. All stimulants. For in this time of supposed weakness the day must still be seized. Whilst my body and mind feel weaker than normal I know I am on the path heading upwards. The cold dark valley that was man-flu is fading behind me and soon the sun will shine as I shine back. Until then... More lemsip
I'm occasionally inspired by the Japanese, urban fashion scene and it makes me develop preferences that vastly contradict the normal style round England... £50 is a lot for this vest but I'm drawn to it
Morning poem #2 (caffeinated dreams)
Woken rudely by a bout of sleep paralysis that I myself must control.
The necessity of coffee at this point is paramount, I stumble to the kitchen down the hall.
Recklessly pour the instant caffeine straight from the jar while the kettle boils.
Back to bed with my black sludge and morning music.
Despite the staggered start to the day, there is a good vibe around.
Morning Poem #1 (her)
I remember Tokyo
I remember saturated suburbs with fat cats and food markets
I remember the systematic train-grid floating over sprawling metropolis
I remember feeling small amongst towering buildings and human swarms
I remember her
I remember quiet places amongst trees or hidden deep inside
I remember the centre, a place could not be more alive
I remember the food of all delicious unexpected varieties
I remember her
I remember crowded arcades shooting lasers at a screen
I remember the simple childhood bliss found in every small detail
I remember feeling more alone than ever before, an alien you could say
But when I remember Tokyo
I remember her
Beautiful Nostalgia
Occasionally I get these intensely nostalgic moments. It be triggered by the playing a certain song or looking at a photo but these devices act as gateways into the past. They reawaken the purity and rawness of my emotions at a time and fill me with a sense of warmth. Perhaps I will never see some of the people in my memories again, but I'm okay with that. The only important thing is not letting those memories fade. From Danni and Holly in Phi Phi, to Thor and Kristina in Chaing Mai. From the Girl in Saigon to my motorbike crew in northern Vietnam. From the quiet streets of Shin-koiwa to the hustle and bustle of central Osaka. From beers on Jericho beach to looking over the Toronto skyline. These memories are my most prized possessions.
The Return
I have been away from home for five months.
I’ve seen things...
Done things...
Met people.
I want to record some of my journal entries on this blog.
Farts are just ghosts of the things we eat..
Nothing in my entire life has been more beautiful than hurtling down a mountain whilst listening to Jon Hopkins.
Journey
Soon I'll leave this place... And maybe I'll find what I need.
Life is easy. People are hard.
