idk how but tonight i broke ddi? i finished holt’s quiz and got him a male crab, he took the crab but wouldn’t aknowledge the finished quiz?? i’ve never had that happen before.

It doesn’t break it, but literally every time I play TMB, I cause Dylan to be crushed before I ever even get to talk to him, which sucks because it makes the game make no sense.

I really dislike DED and Captive Curse. Not even sure how popular captive curse is but I know people love DED for some reason. Also don’t enjoy TMB (and somehow. Every time I’ve played it, I accidentally trigger Dylan getting smushed BEFORE I EVEN MEET HIM which totally throws off the entire game. Thought SPY was kinda fun but the plot is so dumb, Nancy is way out of her league.

My favorite “unpopular” games, you ask? I love CRE, I played that for hours on end when it came out, just fishing and buying beads and making necklaces and more fishing... also last train to blue moon canyon is top 3 for sure, but people always hate on it

If you could choose one bedroom from any of the games, whether or not Nancy stayed there, which would you choose?

Personally, I would KILL for Jane’s room or Nancy’s CUR room

outside pick, but I would love to visit Katie’s boat (DDI). but if I’m choosing a rm to serve as my own room for an extended period, I’ll go with either Nancy’s own frm ASH (a girl loves a space with good natural lighting) OR Abby’s rm frm MHM (because the aesthetic remains unbeaten imo).

Um wait literally what. The captive witness book is about Nancy going to Austria and rescuing kidnapped children, and also something about a stolen reel of film? It has nothing to do with a German castle, or a legend of a monster, or literally ANYTHING in the game.

If it was real life, what do you think would be the scariest Nancy Drew moment/game?

Because as scary as the ghost games are, I feel like for me personally, some of the other stuff Nancy does would be scarier. For example:

Kayaking in DDI because it’s foggy and you’re totally alone and you don’t really know where you’re even going

Being TRAPPED IN A LITERAL TOMB WITH A DEAD BODY

Exploring a creepy woods at night with nothing but a flashlight

Being chased through a labyrinth of cave dwellings by someone who’s going to murder you

Anytime she’s trapped in a burning building

Basically all of the underwater stuff: RAN diving, DAN diving, MED submarine, CRE snorkeling, being trapped underwater by a robot ghost in SAW

Honestly the underwater stuff has always freaked me out, as well as sudden ghostly sightings (like in GTH and MHM), but HER took it to a new level in SAW. I mean, I feel like that game was a turning point in the scare factor with the whole “The Ring” vibe.

Also sneaking around being worried about being caught would give me the most anxiety lol. Like when Paige is going to catch you in WAC.

If HeR Interactive made Haunted Carousel now instead of in 2003, the circuit boards for the card readers would be power up games instead using of a simple soldering method, all the horse heads on the carousel would pivot with a puzzle and the mouths open to reveal secret buttons to press, and ultimately the carousel would turn into a spaceship and whirl away with liftoff at the end of the game.

sometimes i wish there were clues in the game that weren’t really necessary to the plot or the game but just stuff geared towards the characters

like, show me wade thornton’s stash of whiskey bottles because his nightmares keep him up at night. let me find the old cd’s and gifts henry bought for summer, the ones she hated and trashed on his doorstep. show me old, faded pictures of ma and pa on their wedding day. linda’s diary spilling her anxieties about getting a new stepdaughter. nick falcone’s toothbrush hidden behind the counter at the theater. ollie’s divorce letters from freddie’s mother, left unsigned. frank hardy’s old cell-phone from middle school full of pictures of him and nancy on the bus. an empty engagement ring box from tex in mary yazzie’s closet, hal tanaka’s mail from his parents, baby pictures of nancy in carson’s briefcase.

show me these things and let me discover who these characters are so i can learn to love and appreciate all of them instead of wondering what their life was like before nancy drew came along

Snooping through people's stuff is my favorite part of the games and I so agree. I hate when you can finally get in someone's desk or bag, and the only things you can click on are the plot-relevant papers. I want to see it allllllll

Honestly it makes me mad that the games portray Nancy as being unfashionable because in the books, it's explicitly stated that she's always looking amazing in dresses with matching sweaters and skirt suits and stuff

I used to read the Nancy Drew books as a kid, though I preferred Hardy Boys because they got to do more crazy stuff (because old-fashioned ideas about what’s ladylike and what girls can do meanwhile Joe Hardy has been given a concussion for the twelfth consecutive time but nahhhh he’s fine, he’s a dude. Right? Geez, that poor kid)

But when I did read the books, I remember thinking that Nancy’s boyfriend Ned was kind of a useless character. Like any time he showed up, I would be like “let’s see how many chapters end with Ned blacked out! this time!” Kind of cynical for an eight year old I guess, but hey. I thought he was boring.

I can’t remember anymore. In the classic Nancy Drew books, did Ned ever do anything useful to the plot? Or was he just kind of an obligatory male character that Nancy kinda kept around for some reason?

He wasn't useless! I love Ned. He actually has to save Nancy from closets/cars/attics/drowning fairly often, and also beats up bad guys a lot. He also chauffeurs Nancy around when she needs it, and has brought her several cases--so that's all useful plot-wise.

He's a chemical engineer, he's a camp counselor in the summers, he sells insurance part time (to make that money so he can propose to Nancy), he's the quarterback on the football team at college, and once he got kidnapped from his dorm.

Team Ned for life.
