jamiejchung: Sunday Summer Florals đ

This girl seemed nice enough, unlike the last bunch Petra had to deal with. It didnât end well. This time she hoped nothing went awry. âHerb shop. Preferably for something strong.â That could be used in a ritual, she thought but didnât add.
âReally?â Helen asked, adjusting the strap of her purse over her shoulder. Flicking a lock of hair out her face, she grinned. Serendipity, she thought to herselfâor perhaps the dried patchouli tucked away in her wallet. Either way, she knew a fortuitous moment when she saw one. âWell, you walked-and-complained by the right person. I know the perfect one-stop shop for your herbal needs about a five minute walk from here, if you need a guide. Iâm on my way there, myself.â

Blake watched with a curious glance as the other woman put a hand out to determine the weather for herself. Her eyes drifted to the clouds, another loud clap of thunder booming before rain began to softly fall. âThe Crown? I never bothered getting into it. Any good?â
âItâs pretty good, but Iâd mostly say itâs a staggering testament to Britainâs unlimited supply of actors with thinning brown hair,â Helen joked, adjusting the cardboard sleeve around her to-go cup as she shot the girl a grin. âAnd itâs totally worth it for Princess Margaret and her drama alone, if you can stomach all the quite soâs and constant lip-pursing.âÂ
ethangh:
While premonitions werenât exactly Ethanâs forte, the male could see the business of the SFC flourish the second he had put this system together three years ago. A few nights a week, crowds gather to watch civilly conducted fights. Whether it was Traveler versus Werewolf or Vampire versus Hunter, it didnât matter, because the people loved it. The SFC brought entertainment to those secretly fueled by chaos, without the guaratnee of it actually happening. Ethan realized there were many, just like him, that enjoyed watching the supernatural duke out their trivial issues human style (or with their full blown abilities). Thanks to a little poition he called âThe Black Pantherâ (respectively) all was fair, always. Ethan walks around with his bag of bets, welcoming the regulars that crowded around the ring. âThank you, thank you,â he smiles as he goes along the line.Â
Helen regarded the SFC with no small amount of distaste and it was an opinion not easily changed as she was obstinate in her beliefs. And she certainly hadnât stepped inside that night with the intention of watching a fight. She wanted to duck in and then duck out before any of the chaos erupted. Her real intention of showing up lay with the small satchel tucked inside her purse: a mixture of salt, thyme, sage, rosemary, bay leaf, and clove. An easy enough concoction, the spell that accompanied it was one of the first her mother taught her; easy, thoughtless, and benign, she told herself, and certainly nothing she went out of her way to do. She plastered a smile on her face as she finally spotted Ethanâbag of money in towâand momentarily pushed down her outward disapproval. âYou should know Iâm no betting woman,â she said. "The risk tends to outweigh the reward.â

âJesus Christ, canât find anything in this bloody town.â
âWell, I canât claim to be any kind of navigational savant, but the townâs pretty small. Maybe I can help you get where you need to go. What are you looking for?â

âIs this seat taken?â He didnât even wait for a response as he sat down on the stool next to whoever was sitting there. Being the kind of person that he was, he didnât particularly care if they said someone else was sitting there. It was just convenient for him that nobody was sitting there right now. Sid didnât really want to cause a scene at the moment. He placed his drink on the bar top and looked over at who he was sitting next to. A smirk lifted onto his face. âCome here often?â
Drinking at a bar alone certainly wasnât Helenâs top choice in how to spend her evening, but these days it was hard to discern where a conversation with her father was going to lead her. As soon as her mother had passed over the phone to him, the judgment-tinged questions started pouring in from over the receiver. It was enough to set her on edge and to seek a bit of ease in the form of a cocktail. Two drinks down, the voice to her left wasnât much of a surprise. Woman sitting on her own? It usually wasnât long before someone came around with an easy line or two. âCertifiable free-for-all,â she replied, gesturing to the seat with her empty hand. In response to his next question, she a huffed a quiet laugh. âI havenât heard that one in awhile. I thought men came to the general consensus to finally retire it.â
Visa Vows, itâs everywhereâ

âDamn storm.â Blake grumbled, arms folding over her chest as she stood out on the front patio of Dark Roast. Angry grey clouds loomed overhead and the distant sound of thunder rumbled towards East End. âBetter not take out the fuckinâ power againâŠâ
Helen took a slow sip of the hot cup of coffee in her hands, narrowing her eyes as she surveyed the dark skies. Extending a hand out from underneath the awning, a drop of water fell into her palm and she let out a tch as she pulled back. âHopefully it just passes right over. Iâd gladly take a quick rainshower, but Iâm too far deep into The Crown for there to be any kind of blackout tonight.â
