You wouldn’t think that flamingoes are extremophiles just from looking at them. It’s like somebody tried to build the vertebrate equivalent of that fungus that lives inside nuclear reactors, and ended up with a gangly pink dinosaur with a spoon for a face.
For everyone in the comments asking how flamingos are extremophiles:
Flamingos can survive in low oxygen, high altitude, high temperatures, low temperatures, high alkaline, they can and will drink boiling water and they can be completely frozen at night and still get up the next morning
Oh yeah, this leaves out what I *did* know about them–they can also survive hypersalinity. That is, water so salty it kills practically everything else–water so salty it burns your skin.

Some species of flamingo actually subsist almost entirely on a diet of bacteria! In other words, there is a species of dinosaur that eats only bacteria and lives in lakes so toxic they would kill almost anything else—and it is best known to the average person as a kitschy lawn decoration.

I. am not quite sure what to make of him lmao. all his motivations seem particularly murky to me (and I'm sure that's intentional) so this is just gonna be some Wild Speculating. I do genuinely think I need more information about him and his motives bc even he himself DOESN'T KNOW WHAT HE'S DOING.....
that alone makes him compelling. and also maybe stupid. which makes him even more compelling.
I think vloxx's hero complex spills over into some form of a martyr complex. I mean, he himself says that he "has no desire for power or legacy" but is like. still taking on all this responsibility and danger and probably is going to put himself through IMMENSE DISCOMFORT for NO REASON.
(this also leads me to believe that he's a bit of a masochist but in like.... a Mental Anguish sort of way. not so much chains and whips.)
his backstory is surprisingly well fleshed out??? I feel like the suspicious gap in his history is a huge tell to what his motivations will end up being (if we ever DO end up learning what that suspicious gap in his resume is).

I think it's craaaazyyyy that vloxx "trusts [us] entirely" and is our "sincerest admirer." I really hope that sort of worship/admiration is expanded upon. OR. or. vloxx is just lying through his teeth to butter us up in order to get us to trust/work with him. but flattery also isn't a major motivator for the commander?? idk, the Commander is very humble; not swayed or convinced by flattery. which vloxx would probably know if he knows that much about us. which makes me believe it's sincere. but I don't knowww.
there was a post floating around in december that posited the theory that vloxx was maybe once part of the astral ward, or knew about it before the masses of Tyria did (if that was you, PLEASE let me know. or link it. it was so good). How else would he have known about ancora and ascensions? did he gain access to some sort of information kept deep within the astral ward's vaults about these upcoming catastrophic events that he keeps alluding to?
I also LOVE the theory of vloxx forcibly ascending the Commander. it's so hot. sorry. sorry. I'm so sorry but that's such a crazy fucked up theory that could lead to so many things going wrong that it's flipped a complete 180 into being something that's incredibly sexy.
and I do think that whatever ends up happening in this expansion, the Commander and Vloxx are going to be side by side.
