genuinely curious: What species of owl did you look up? Because there's 254 species of owl, and they all make different noises. Barn owls make some of the worst noises you've ever heard when they're greeting their mates/being affectionate, for example.

I actually referenced barn owls! Like you mentioned in your tags, I also headcanon him as (at least very very close to) a barn owl, and had been spending some time watching a livestream of barn owl nesting boxes when I drew this. While their calls are banshee screeches and not hoots, they still make chirps and coos when greeting each other, mating, handing off food, and communicating with/feeding their owlets.

Just wanted to say: I've noticed you always draw Stolas with a little tuff of feathers on his nose/beak.

And I find it incredibly adorable: makes Stolas look so fuzzy and soft looking! <3

Thank you so much!! It's something I've done for a while! Any time I add more scruff to him, especially when he's just in normal clothes, it's a little emphasis I'm putting on him that he's not adhering to princely upkeep expectations at that time :)

This ask actually prompted me to look back to see when I actually started doing it consistently - and here's what I found!

Those first two in May 2024, I'd only been drawing them for about a month and a half and was still figuring out their shapes, and I wanted to try something different for a Stolitz kiss week leading up to The Full Moon's episode drop!

Then I just used the usual emphasis line or no line at all for about 7 months, but seeing an image of a sleepy scruffy barn owl made me want to try and translate that to Stolas, and the rest is history!!
