Hey guys, I hope you'll be able to see it. I run Barbascloset, Barbaandesparza, and thefictionwife. For some reason, that entire account is having issues. I've reached out to Tumblr to try and fix it.

Just throwing this out there but Leon and Claire do end up together in the (non-cannon) novels from the late 90s-early 00s. Has nothing to do with the games, but I guess shows that there's always been some Cleon stuff out there.

Anyway, the "Leon and Ada spent the night together" thing was just said by a writer outside of the movies/games. It was his personal feelings that Capcom did not allow him to include. This was the same guy that wrote re6 and he was an aeon stan and, well... You weren't here for this, but at the time the aeon stuff was EXTREMELY poorly received. And not just from other shippers, from casual players. As in the people that actually buy and play the games. While re6 had other problems too, that was a big sticking point. It legitimately almost sank the series even though re6 sold well. Capcom panicked and that's how we got re7.

Ever since then, Capcom has been allowing Leon more potential relationships and apologizing for re6. The Ada and Leon stuff is more nuanced and distant, and can really be seen in the differences between the OG re4's ending and re4r's ending. In the OG he's going on about how "she's a part of him". And in re4r he's like, "this is where we go our separate ways."

And it really looks like nobody even wants to touch an re6 remake at this point because it was such poison for the series.

I really REALLY hope you play the games and watch the movies before forming your own opinion. It's easy to let others control the narrative for you, hell, I'm biased too and you should research everything I've been saying too.

Also keep in mind that RE has no "word of God" or "bible" that can be drawn from in terms of characters or stories. It's odd in that way. Writers and directors can make up stuff and just be like, "hey can I add this?" and Capcom might be like, "Yeah, whatever... idc...". And that's how we get so many loose plot threads and forgotten characters. It's an actual problem in the series. And the personal feelings of one director/writer when said outside of the game/movies SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN AS GOSPEL. Can't talk about how "game only" players would be confused about certain ships if you use evidence for a different ship based on interviews about a scene in one of the movies. Just saying.

But, the marriage was left up to interpretation on purpose after spreading shipping crumbs around. People can pick who they want. If they wanted it to without a doubt be Ada... they would have done that as she was the most likely candidate. But they didn't. Doesn't mean it isn't her. Doesn't mean it is either.

Oh I have my own opinions. I was just curious about anything major I was missing in terms of Cleon because I'm seeing some fans genuinely feeling like she is the canon wife. Not that she should be/they want her to be, but basically treating it as canon.

As for them spending the night together, the reason I brought that up was that I saw a scene (maybe it was from a movie, rather than RE6) where one of them asks when they'll pick up where they left off that one night, and the other says "any time but now." Paraphrasing, obviously.

What you heard about Leon rejecting Claire is wrong. Leon/Ada shippers continue to spread misinformation despite it being easily proven wrong by watching Infinite Darkness. Claire has never propositioned Leon.

Leon is the one who wants to get dinner with Claire but it ends up not happening because he chooses to keep some very dangerous info away from her because he's trying to protect her and this upsets her. He's willing to piss her off if it means she won't get hurt. I highly recommend engaging with the games and movies and coming to your own conclusions. There is a lot of bad info out there and a lot of lies are spread by shippers intentionally if they don't like a pairing.

Thank you for correcting me. I do intend to watch the movies, just haven’t gotten around to it yet. I know misinformation can be spread in both sides; there were rumors going around that the director of 9 claimed he married Claire, which was later debunked by the director himself.

Personally I feel like he’s probably married to some random civilian. While I have an Aeon preference, I have a hard time seeing them married in canon. And for people who are game-only, Cleon would feel a bit random since we haven’t seen them together since 2, as far as I’m aware.

Genuine question for Resident Evil fans who think Leon could he married to Claire Redfield in canon:

I want to reiterate this is a genuine question and is no way bashing the ship. I actually want to understand if I’m missing things in canon, or if it’s simply a “I prefer it and would love for it to be canon” thing, which is perfectly valid.

I’m new-ish to the whole Resident Evil lore. I know at least the gist of the numbered games, not as familiar with stuff like Veronica and what not, or the CGI movies. Obviously there’s been the whole thing about Leon’s wedding ring in the concept art. It seems fans are in 3 camps - it’s Ada, it’s Claire, it’s a random. (And the random outlier who think it’s Chris, but I think 95% of those are joking.) I genuinely don’t understand why people would believe it’s Claire. We haven’t seen them in a game together since 2, where yes, they flirted lightly at the beginning, but then Leon got super into Ada. He continues to be super into Ada in both 4 and 6, with 6 implying that they’ve gone on a date and/or done the spicy. Leon also does everything he can to protect her in 6.

This is not a “look at how Leon/Ada is better” thing, more of a “why would Leon prioritize Ada so heavily if he’s got feelings for Claire?”

I know they’re in two..? Three? Movies together, but based on what I’ve heard, Claire asks him to dinner in one and he politely rejects it? I could have gotten bad information, this is a genuine question.

It also feels like if Capcom wanted them together canonically, they’d be in more than just optional CGI movies.

Some people have pointed out in RE9 (very mild spoilers) that Leon’s gun and watch both have a wing on it, which Claire’s red jacket has the wings and she wears a necklace with a wing, but he’s also a member of the US government, a country whose primary symbol is an eagle.

I’m genuinely not trying to bash Cleon. And even if it’s not canon, it doesn’t invalidate it as a ship, as I have *plenty* of ships that aren’t canon. I just don’t understand what is in there that is leading people to believe the ring could mean he’s married to Claire? Am I missing something? The director was even asked about whether it was Claire, Ada, or someone else. So it’s a big enough thing that the director is being asked about it.

(For anyone curious he dodged the question but said he’s interested in Leon and Ada’s private relationship/private lives, I don’t remember how exactly he phrased it. Screenshot can be provided for proof.)

Edit to note: this is not a "why do you ship Claire and Leon?" question. All ships are valid, as long as they're between two consenting adults. This is why there are people who genuinely believe it IS Claire married to Leon. Not a "I wish/I would love for it to be Claire" but people who think it IS her.

For anyone curious what they mean by the rubber duck, rubber duck debugging is a tactic used by programmers to figure out bugs in the code. To do it, they explain the code, verbally, line by line, to the rubber duck until they find it. 

It’s also very useful for writers, and I’ve used it multiple times with rubber ducks, stuffed animals, and my friends.

I literally cannot count the number of times I’ve gone to someone and told them ‘I can’t figure out what’s wrong with my story, please let me explain it to you’ and that was all it took. Sometimes they ask helpful questions like ‘did you remember to feed them’ or ‘so is this all on the same day’ but other times I don’t even need that, it just figures itself out as soon as I try to explain it to someone else.

It’s one of my go-to pieces of writing advice. You’re stuck on your story? sit down and tell me/someone all about it.

I’m casually freaking out because this is my rarepair OTP.. so to see a render of it is pulling at ALL my heart strings. 

I literally tried to learn Blender for Reno/Leslie and failed.

I’ll be candid in admitting I’ve never been on the Destiel train. I figured after everything the boys have been through (both the Winchester boys and Cas), if they had an interest in a guy, it’d be no big deal to say so. I gave up on SPN early season 10 or 11 out of boredom, so these scenes and quotes are the first time I’m seeing them... and damn. It really seems like y’all did get Queerbated. They put so much emphasis on how much Cas and Dean mean to each other, and the lengths they go to get each other back... The “I love yous”, the “I want what I can’t have.” The “I want to feel things in a different way, maybe for the first time” quotes seem like they were actually planning to head in that direction.

I haven’t watched the finale, I don’t know how it ends. Maybe they wanted to make it ambiguous, or they thought hinting at it as much as they did was plenty. But I feel like actually making Dean and Cas interested in the same sex would’ve had a huge impact. Neither needs to be “gay.” Dean had plenty of interest in women and there’s no need to write that off as him being in the closet... and I’m pretty sure Cas has had interest in women too (at least Meg.) I think it’d be a very powerful and interesting storyline if Dean actually did find this guy he has feelings for, and that it throws him off, because he’s genuinely never had feelings for another guy, and all his previous comments about “we’re not gay” “I don’t swing that way” etc. would still be valid. Sexuality is fluid. 

Also, the fact that Dean is a very stereotypical masculine man would be great that not all men interested in the same sex have to be feminine, or nerdy, or anything like that. Going off stereotypes, you’d expect Sam to have interest in the same sex.  And then you have Cas... a literal angel. Having him turn out to be queer? That would send such a powerful message to people who are religious and questioning/in the closet/etc. 

Do I “ship” Destiel? From what I’ve seen, no (subject to change, if I decide to get caught up.) Do I see why people feel queerbated? Yes. I also acknowledge how great of a storyline that would be, due to the weight it would carry.

after the huge amazing response I got from my ace!Jiang Cheng comic - all of the ace people saying how amazing it felt to be acknowledged, and all of the people who came to me saying that they hadn’t realised they were ace until they read the comic - I decided I wanted to make something for ace awareness week. it’s not quite as pretty or feelsy as the other comic, but there are so many people even within the LGBT+ community who just… genuinely do not understand asexuality, I figured even something basic would help :)
