Michael Cunningham, from “The Hours,” originally published c. 1998

“Sabrina tells me you’re a witch now? That’s . . . unexpected, but awesome.”
How do you want to be loved ?
Recklessly, like a horse running as fast as he can
You've been told that the way you love can never last, and that heartbreak is inevitable. But you don't want to love carefully. You want to love with reckless abandon. You want to love with everything you have, and you want to be loved the same way. You don't want them to worry about tomorrow. Make today worth living for.

She was still Sabrina without a doubt, but….could she truly say this was her Sabrina? Of course, she did have her Sabrina, Sabrina Spellman, however, this was all still very jarring to her. But it seemed as though nothing had changed with this one, despite the fact that she ruled Hell for the past month or so. Despite everything, though, she still saw her as Sabrina, & she refused to treat her any different. Hence the reason why she was concerned for her down there.
“ Are they treating you well? They aren’t being unreasonable, are they? ” She swore to Hecate if they laid a hand on her, she wouldn’t back down. It didn’t matter if they were practically omnipotent, they will experience hellfire from her personally.

Her family was what Sabrina Morningstar missed most. Lucifer and Caliban are a newer family, but there is no love in any other realm comparable to that of the Spellmans. And she wasn’t too different to Aunt Zelda, much of her soul was Sabrina Spellman, only from the day of the pagans defeat was she a different person. Not even six months.
“I’m happy, Auntie. Hell was a surprisingly amiable place when I put my mind to it.” Sabrina glanced toward the office door where Caliban and Lucifer were debating about a large blue painting on the wall. “For people who wanted to kill or dethrone me, everyone’s accepted my crowning smoothly.”
She touched Hilda’s hand for a moment and thankfully doesn’t feel the skin of a stranger. “You’re always welcome to visit if you want,” Sabrina said as though it were for Sunday brunch, “I’ve been taking lessons with a demon of language, I’m sure you’d get along well reading all those newspapers. Don’t worry, they are just as strict on me in French as you were about Latin.”

“Do mortals not build sandcastles?” he asked, knowing well they did. He had witnessed them do so with his own eyes. True, they were not as grand as his own – many could barely be called castles, but he knew it was still a practice. Caliban glanced over at her, noting her shiver. Though he only wore his vest, the sleeves covered him to mid bicep and it was made of heavy hide – it would at least keep her torso and parts of her arms warm. He shrugged it off and draped it over her shoulders before he walked over to his castle and repaired one of the towers.
“I build many things,” Caliban finally answered. “This day I happened to build a sandcastle.” A home of a prince and a king – but he kept that information to himself. “I know you think little of me, but I do enjoy more in this life than just competing for the throne, though I would be speaking falsely if I say I did not greatly enjoy that.” He gave her a small grin before he went back to his work. “Making things with my hands gives me peace.” The words were soft as they left him, the surf almost washing them away with the screams of the Damned, but they were still said. “What about you, your highness? Do you enjoy building sandcastles?”
Sabrina felt the weight of heavy fabric on her shoulders with surprise, Caliban having walked away before she could thank him. She watched with measured gaze before properly putting the jacket on. Perhaps kindness was a ripple that ran through him not only called upon for favors. Sabrina followed and watched him work from a few feet away, arms wrapped around her torso to keep the leather-like vest shut.
It could be asked if Caliban liked building things with his hands because he himself was formed, much like the chicken and the egg conundrum. Yet, he also wanted to build realms, she recalled, so it was not all on sand castle size level.
“I’d say I enjoy sandcastles about as much as the next person,” she answered nonchalantly, but squinted at the souls caged at sea amended, “well, not the next person.”
Kneeling by the unconstructed side, she patted the dark sand into it’s basic structure. He knew all the turrets and parapets, but she could figure out base level well enough.
“In the mortal realm I have a dolls house. It’s to scale a remake our mortuary mansion.” The sand was cold against her hands, but the texture is soothing as she slides her fingers over the grain to smooth out a section. “My aunts made the outside, but I did all the rooms. It was fun.”

“ I was drunk—that doesn’t count. ” She still regretted everything that happened at her aunt’s wedding, & she didn’t want to recall any of it. Above it all, she was still trying to make it up to her Aunt Hilda for partially ruining the ceremony with her carelessness.
Rolling her eyes at the other, she scoffed. “ Okay, but because I did, I practically saved the entire world yet again. So, who’s winning now? & besides, we filed for a divorce the moment he carried me across that threshold. ” Joking aside, she was proud of what Sabrina M. was doing in Hell, governing the realm to make it a slightly more righteous place to be in. “ I really hope you convince them, Hell was like super brutal with who they kept last time I checked. ” Sitting across from her, she then leaned towards her, a smile now appearing on her face.
“ So, about our birthday party….I know that you want to do it in Hell, but I just don’t think the rest would approve of it. They just won’t….feel safe, you know? ”
She could say what happened in hell stayed in hell, but that obviously wasn’t true. Sabrina missed the yellow wall papered room now that it had a new occupant and they could not longer play there. While it was risky before having either world find out about their double at least Morningstar’s half knew. Alas, she could not say the same for the mortal world, whom Sabrina had to keep up the constant ruse.
“Hmm,” she leaned forward and put her chin in her hand having rested it on her knee and regarded the other, “You’re afraid Dad might see you and totally flip? Or any non-demonic guests will be kidnapped or seduced by demonic ones. Those questions are safety are legitimate. I’d be worried about anyone who isn’t ‘accustomed’ to the area. Or has past traumas, like Nick, he just really wouldn’t enjoy the ballroom the same way you know?”

Caliban stopped before the throne, his hands clasped behind his back only relaxing slightly when his guard disappeared. While he craved his freedom, he was not particularly enjoying the idea of being followed around by such a creature. “I do not,” he shook his head. “If I did surviving when you left me in Golgotha would have been far more difficult,” he pointed out. He did enjoy food and would indulge if it was before him, but he did not need it for survival. “Many that reside in these halls need little food, it is a luxury that is indulged more for taste and enjoyment rather than sustenance.”
In a fast and warm circle of flames, the pair vanished from the halls of Pandemonium and their feet touched down on the sandy beaches she spoke of. The sound of the surf could be heard as the waves rose and fell and just beneath that were the cries of the damned. A soft sound that were almost easy to ignore – mistake for birds in the mortal realm if you did not know what you were listening to. He glanced around and noted his castle was still standing though it had crumbled slightly – a mark of good craftmanship.
“The Shore of Sorrow,” he declared, holding out his arms for her as though unveiling some wonderous thing to her. “Beautiful, is it not?”
The beach was chillier than Pandemonium and the flames that brought them here. She shivered once to adjust to the change, doubting someone of clay was bothered by temperature. Hearing the screams of the caged she looked out across the vast sea, wondering if they needed to remain there. Perhaps that was once of the first things she would change.
“It is quite beautiful.” She agreed, although she didn’t having too many beaches to compare to. Just the one in Greendale, but it was warm gold sands and teens playing volleyball. The shore of sorrows would certainly be a favorite among depressed painters.
Noticing his art was still standing, Sabrina tilted her head towards it. “Why do you build sandcastles?”

thenightmareofyourdrems:
˜”*°•. An unredeemable lie the source of every quarrel: a once artless and unquestioning devotion the reason behind every drama. For perhaps Sabrina, the Dark Lord’s daughter had seen simplicity in rebelling, others, though would’ve faced torments by speaking a single no – excruciating torments that he’d endured in the very end // and all just to keep her safe –.
❝ It was ONE lie, Sabrina. One stupid lie that I gave up everything to make up for. ❞ But of course, peddling little details justifying his reasons couldn’t have been retained – for then, how would he have been seen as the bad guy ? –. ❝ So I am asking you this, Morningstar, what exactly do you want me to do so you can finally forgive that ONE mistake ? ❞ For perhaps this was not Sabrina Spellman, the bitterness, though enveloping them like a fog, the disdain, the accusation… it was all an unsorted issue asking to be solved. ❝ Because I might have had my reason, what about you and this mess, though ? ❞ How could she justify the fact that she’d become TWO and hadn’t even bother to inform him ?
“It was more than one lie . . . ” Sabrina scoffed under breath. It wasn’t one she could truly hold against him considering he sacrificed himself to hell as a human cage for Lucifer.
Lipstick painted lips opened and closed, wordless to muster an answer. Was there anything he could do to have her forgive him for cheating on her? So far she had reached a phase of understanding, but not condoning.
When Sabrina Spellman described the horror of a future she’d witnessed after centuries trapped in stone, Sabrina cried. Ambrose the only survivor of their family, Harvey sacrificed for the pagans and Nick himself turned to stoned trying to save Theo and Roz after Robin’s former fellows killed him for betrayal. Everything was bleak and VOID OF HOPE in that hell on earth that was described.
“If I wasn’t ruling hell you don’t know,” her voice sharpened, “you can’t even fathom -- the atrocities that would befall the mortal realm.” Everyone critiqued her for her choice, but if she’d chosen hell or only her mortal life? Everyone would have their opinion then as well. “If my father or Caliban were on the throne do you think you’d be attending weddings with Prudence? No, I don’t think so.”
