Anthony Head (sometimes credited as Anthony Stewart Head) has passed away.
His daughters shared that "he passed away peacefully of complications due to pneumonia, surrounded by his family" at the age of 72, according to BBC.
Buffy fans will most know him for playing Rupert Giles, the titular character's beloved mentor, in all seven seasons of the series. He also voiced the character in video games, the Slayers audio series, and the unproduced animated Buffy pilot.
Outside of the Buffyverse, he's had a long range of roles on screen and stage. Some highlights include roles in Little Britain, The Rocky Horror Show, Merlin, Repo! the Genetic Opera, and Ted Lasso.
Rest in peace, Tony. 🖤
Today is National Hug Your Cat Day and National Cheese Day, so here's a post in honor of Miss Kitty Fantastico and the Cheese Man. 🐈🧀
What's your favorite part from the episode Prophecy Girl?
This episode aired 29 years ago today - and a gamechanger of an episode it is!
My favorite scene has long been the emotional performance that Sarah Michelle Gellar gives as Buffy learns her prophesied fate... "Giles, I'm sixteen years old. I don't wanna' die."
it’s especially heartbreaking ( to me ) that faith lehane who grew up in poverty, hated and abused one day found out that she was the chosen one, that she was special that for the first time in her life she was chosen, she had something that was only hers. only to have that taken away from her too, only to find out that she isn’t the only one, that she isn’t special, that there’s another girl who was chosen before her, a girl that everyone prefers to her, a girl that doesn’t even want to be a slayer, and yet is still better than her.
this should be a common reaction image
I am baffled every time I see someone say they don't like or that they hate S6. That's one of the things about this fandom I will never understand because S6 is the moment I really and truly started loving Buffy as a character. I mean, yeah, she carries the show from the beginning, and she's brilliant throughout it all, especially in S5, but S6 is when we get to see what Spike meant by "I've seen the best and the worst of you." We get to see that, and we get to love her anyway, just like he does.
How can you say you love a character if you refuse to see them at their rock bottom? She went through the worst possible scenario of her life. She was pulled back from heaven into hell, and she bloody acted like it.
I hated how she treated Spike, and I honestly wanted to hate HER for it, but the thing is, I could never. Because no matter how terribly she treated him, you had to understand where all that was coming from after everything that happened to her. I could never, ever hate her for anything she's done.
S6 is the moment we saw Buffy represent humanity in its purest, most tragic form. That's why I will always love it. It's the moment we see behind the mask of the hero who had to have it all under control. The hero who had everything and everyone always depend on her, falling apart like the human she is. She's being pulled under by all the expectations and judgment, and she's drowning.
Hating the moment the hero can no longer keep it together means we only ever see the cape and the suit, not the human under it. It's the same thing her friends do throughout the season.
demon killing satisfies spike’s fighting urge. but not his biting urge. which brings me to my latest spike thesis: recreationally crunching his fangs into cardboard like a lil kittycat
Dynamite Entertainment has announced the release date for the first issue of their upcoming Angel comic book series - August 19th!
Writer Kelly Thompson and artist Giulia Giacomino have teamed up to bring this story to life. This issue comes a month after the first Buffy issue releases on July 22nd.
The description given by Dynamite Entertainment:
"Once the terrifying vampire Angelus, Angel was cursed for his crimes with the return of his soul. That soul eventually led him to Sunnydale and a tragic star-crossed affair with Buffy, his vampire-slaying true love. Once the tragedy had run its course, Angel built himself a new life in Los Angeles as a supernatural detective, helping the helpless. But things don't always go according to plan. And sometimes, you do have to go home again. "

Happy Dracula Day!
While only making one on-screen appearance in the Buffyverse, Dracula does also go on to appear in varied comics. What did you think of him?
these days i have like 3 separate interpretations of cangel as a dynamic and they all completely contradict one another but i believe them in equal measure
cangel are romantically and sexually attracted to one another + in love + would date if they could
cangel are super duper best friends who also happen to find each other hot and sometimes make out when they get drunk enough. they wouldn't date though
someone asks cangel if they're dating and they stick their tongues out and go ewwww yuck gross are you out of your mind. they are however deeply emotionally devoted to one another in other ways
what kind of insurance did buffy’s mom have on that damn house
'Restless' concluded season 4 and brought a more experimental form of storytelling than we'd seen yet in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. There's so many moments that can be picked apart/examined in this episode and that come up again in future seasons.

"I got it so wrong. I don't want to protect you from the world. I want to show it to you. There's so much that I want to show you."
"So if I'm going out it's here. If you wanna kill the world, well then start with me. I've earned that... It doesn't matter. I'll still love you."
"Make me what I was, so Buffy can get what she deserves."
