it’s especially heartbreaking ( to me ) that faith lehane who grew up in poverty, hated and abused one day found out that she was the chosen one, that she was special that for the first time in her life she was chosen, she had something that was only hers. only to have that taken away from her too, only to find out that she isn’t the only one, that she isn’t special, that there’s another girl who was chosen before her, a girl that everyone prefers to her, a girl that doesn’t even want to be a slayer, and yet is still better than her.

rewatching dead man’s party rn and giles just told buffy that she’s not allowed in school property anymore (assuming that it’s because she was kicked out because in the beginning of the ep it’s said that all charges against her have been cleared out)

yet not even an episode later faith is inside school grounds even though she’s not a student, even fuckass wesley is constantly at the school, i mean faith i can understand she can pass as a student but wesley?? wth

there’s enough security to notice buffy is there when she’s not supposed to be but not enough to catch faith and a whole grown ass man who’s not supposed to be there either???

buffy the vampire slayer had the best opportunity to make buffy’s initial dislike of faith about kendra. about how she feels guilty about kendra dying and not wanting another replacement slayer after her (especially considering how faith is the complete opposite of kendra) but noooo we got the dumbass female rivalry plot line again. when we already had it in season two and buffy had already gotten over her whole “i’m the only slayer” thing and learned to work and get along with another slayer.

obviously, considering her running away and how in ‘faith, hope and trick’ faith got along so well with the scoobies it makes sense to spark a little friction but it would’ve been so much nicer if buffy was pushing her away because of kendra, if the scoobies had told faith about her and their ‘fight’ over ‘the angel thing’ was actually about kendra, buffy yelling at faith saying she’s not kendra and faith getting jealous of someone she’s never even met.

we could have got buffy going through survival’s guilt not only over angel but kendra as well and buffy who pushes faith away because she’s scared of getting attached to another slayer (we could’ve got a scene where buffy gets upset with faith for being reckless because buffy doesn’t want her to die like kendra did)

anyway kendra young you should’ve haunted season three.

it truly surprises me how xander wasn’t a more toxic boyfriend to anya tbh.

i’m watching inca mommy girl rn and the moment buffy mentions that the exchange student that’s coming over to her house is a man xander immediately loses it and says he doesn’t want a “male exchange student with male parts” ( or something like that ) living with buffy.

the same xander who spent the entire of season one mooning over buffy who rejected him, the same xander who after said rejection is still making unnecessary comments about the men in buffy’s life, like whenever angel appears for his 2 minutes of brooding each episode.

and like his constant commentary of angel would’ve been valid if it came from a place of friendship ( for example if he was telling buffy about how he’s older, or how he’s a vampire, or how she practically doesn’t know anything about him yet ) but no, each jab each criticism comes from a place of “i’m in love with you but you’re not into me, but i still don’t want any man having you since i can’t have you” and it’s truly so odd. i also don’t get how buffy herself doesn’t say anything about it because having a friend that’s into me and trying ( and in xanders case failing ) to police my life would drive me up the wall.

so it’s actually a little surprising that when it comes to anya xander doesn’t have any opinion on where she was or who she was seeing ( given the fact that he did so much policing when it came to buffy who at no point ever was his girlfriend or even close to it )

it also speaks to the fact that xander never grew out of his feelings for buffy I mean even before his wedding he sort of hits on her and it’s clear that if she gave him the chance he would’ve left whoever he was with at the time to be with her. it’s also clear that his whole “dating supernaturals only” arc comes from the fact that he couldn’t get buffy therefore he’s always attracted to / drawn to the next best thing ( faith, anya, mummy girl, dawn ( this one actually bothers me deeply but I digress ) and so on so on )

season 3 AU where buffy becomes detached from the scoobies after dead man’s party and becomes weirdly attached to faith once she arrives to sunnydale. season 3 AU where buffy plays push and pull with both angel ( in secret ) and faith and does that dance she did with xander in season 2 to cibo matto but this time with faith.

The scene of the mayor as the first speaking to Faith was so crazy. The first's whole thing was to pry into your mind and find your doubts, but here we learn that faith never doubted that the mayor loved her, she was just afraid that nobody will ever love her like he did ever again.

here is Faith Lehane, most cynical girl because people that were supposed to love her screwed her over, again and again

but little mr richard wilkins managed to make this girl feel so cherished that by the end of their relationship, she was just scared that the only person who has ever truly loved her is gone

is there any fully canon material that answers this question? because from what i’ve seen online the popular headcanon ( or at least what most people believe in ) is that faith is older than buffy.

which i never really agreed with tbh. when faith is introduced buffy calls her her “bestest newest little sister” or something like that, and taking into account that the original plan for faith’s character didn’t include her making it to graduation to when she says. “all dressed up in big sister’s clothes” i still choose to believe that she is younger and that she was meant to be younger all along ( also it makes it all the more tragic if she hadn’t even made it to eighteen yet so by bias remains )

in go ask malice ( which isn’t canon or is only semi canon i know ) faith’s watcher was scared of telling faith about the cruciumentum and making her go through it, meaning that in go ask malice ( which was only a few months before faith came to sunnydale ) she still hadn’t turned eighteen.

faith’s birthday is in december and buffy’s is in january meaning that if faith was older than buffy she would’ve had to have gone through the cruciumentum before buffy but she didn’t. so does that not mean that buffy was in fact older than faith?

faith lehane is a csa victim ( tw )

going off of ‘go ask malice’ faith lehane is a csa victim, given the fact that one of her moms many boyfriends tried to get in bed with her and kiss her ( and did kiss her ) if I remember correctly, despite the fact that she pushed him off, this still happened when she was very much a minor, and it’s heavily implied that it has happened before.

while ‘go ask malice’ isn’t canon. there’s many context clues in the actual show that prove this to be ( unfortunately ) true.

when she first appeared in buffy season 3 in ‘faith hope and trick’ she was already introduced as the sexy & sexual slayer, her nature and her ‘stories’ making buffy seem almost like a prude in comparison. but let’s not forget that faith was almost definitely still a minor in this episode and her stories of ‘wrestling alligators and saving preachers in the nude only to get arrested shortly after’ were of highly sexual nature, especially for a 17 ( ? ) year old.

the theme of faith being promiscuous / overly sexual ( in comparison to buffy and just about every other character around her, really ) continues on throughout the show, cue her sleeping with xander. but it’s treaded more as a flaw or as a thematic joke rather than something she uses to cope and / or feel in control.

in episode 15 ‘consequences’ while tied up in the mansion angel tells her “and he forgot the safety word” in regards of the ( unfortunate ) position he found her and xander in, to which she responds “safety words are for wusses” leading audiences or ( at least me ) to believe that someone in her past has said this to her. in season 7 in conversation with spike she mentions ‘running with a guy’ that liked her to dress up like a school girl and use a whip on him ( unclear whether he used it on her as well ) ironic because given the timeline this was definitely pre her coming to sunnydale when she was definitely still a minor and probably still an actual school girl ( wonder if her ‘safety words are for wusses’ mentality came from him )

faith’s relationship with the mayor and how she felt like she had to pay him in nature for the apartment he chose to provide her with: in episode 16 "doppelgängland" the mayor gives a brand new apartment to faith ( complete with a playstation to which she actually jumps for joy about highlighting the fact that she was just a teenager throughout all of this but I digress ) what’s curious ( to me ) about this scene in that faith immediately comes onto the mayor, in a rather provocative way, and calls him her ‘sugar daddy’ to which even the mayor ( big bad of the season, soulless guy who wants to become a big ass snake and kill everyone ) looks off put by her behaviour and tells her that he is a ‘family man’. to me this, once again, shows, even if only indirectly, that faith is no stranger in using her body + her sexuality as a means to an end, a way to get by or even some kind of messed up coping mechanism.

of course being a ‘family man’ didn’t stop the mayor from basically pimping faith out to angel.
