Hello again, everyone
I'm back from my mini-hiatus, and I'm sorry for the delay.
I just had this strange desire for there to be PG gifs, but alas, there are not, so I cannot use them.
Have any questions about PG, her works, historical fiction, the Tudors (the family, or I guess the show if you really want), or other random historical things? Or just want to share your opinion on any of these topics? Tell me here.

Yeah, I enjoy her novels a lot, but I agree it's important to recognize that her story is indeed fiction. The books are kinda sorta loosely based on some aspects of some historical events, so they should be read as fictional work, not as history book. The way she chose to portray the characters, the personality she gave them, everything is her choice, she felt her story would work with these elements. So yeah... Btw, which are your favorite works of fiction based on the Tudors era?
I couldn't agree more, thank you so much. It's fiction that just includes historically-related things, even if that means the time period.
As unhelpful as this is, I don't have any favorites. I've read quite a few, but found myself enjoying actual Tudor history books more. Though I do love historical fiction, the Tudor Era being one of my favorite types, there haven't been any that really stand out to me. But if I find one, I'll let you know. What are your favorites?
Hi, it's dysphemistics (I asked about Alison Weir a while ago). I just wanted to say, I know Weir is a historian and probably shouldn't add false info, but I think you have to remember I don't think she expects historians to read her fiction books. They're more aimed at the public for entertainment.
That of course works for her fiction books, but she shouldn't add false information into her "history" books. Even with her disclaimer. Historical fiction is great, and I'm sure people love her work, but if all of her work is just that, she shouldn't call some of it history.
I really love PG, her books are interesting and entertaining and I really enjoy reading them. That said, I would understand why a history fan would have problems with a history fiction novels. So, no hard feelings :) I wanted to ask you this - what do you think of PG's interpretation of Anne of Cleves? Because I loved the character and wanted to know what PG changed to make her more lovable.
Thank you for your opinion! I actually don't have a problem with her novels, and I love reading historical fiction. I do have a problem with how she backs up things that aren't facts with "sources" and how so many people take her books to be what really happened in history.
Well, I thought her interpretation was fine. I read The Boleyn Inheritance a while ago, but from what I remember, her interpretation wasn't all too bad. I don't think there was much unloveable about her except for the fact that she was less attractive than expected. She was supposedly quite kind to everyone, including Katherine Howard when she was Queen after Anne, and also to the King's children. It seems she just wanted to be friendly instead of assert herself as Queen, which might be one reason you find her so endearing. Hopefully I'm remembering the book correctly. :)

I just found that out, thank you for telling me! Perhaps she includes things that aren't true in her non-fiction as well, which is the problem.
Just saying, I'm actually fond of both KoA and Mary Tudor, but as a Jew there is no way in absolute fucking hell that I would love someone who actively PERSECUTED AND HATED my people.

Can anyone tell me why PG would have Katherine of Aragon CONSUMMATE HER MARRIAGE WITH ARTHUR? She-she does realize that she damned KoA to hell, right?
Actually, it hasn't been proven either way. KoA's virginity when she married Henry is a very large debate, and most likely always will be.

What? I'm very confused. I'm not following any tags, so I didn't see any hate anywhere.
Also, I don't think you're out of line, I just wish you'd work with me and point out instances where I'm tagging things I shouldn't instead of doing - well - doing what you're doing right there.

Let me Make Myself Clear
I'm relatively new to Tumblr, and I don't fully understand the art of tagging.
I've been told not to tag memes, so I've stopped tagging memes. I've been told not to tag hate, so I thought I stopped tagging hate.
People have explained to me why it's rude, and I respect that. I don't want to anger anyone. Truthfully, I don't.
But instead of just randomly ranting about how much I'm disrespectful or you hate me or feeling the need to write articles about what I'm doing wrong, please just talk to me.
I don't bite.
I'm willing to listen to anyone who's calm enough to explain the dos and don'ts. And, instead of just complaining about what a horrible person I am, why don't you send me an ask and say "your post ___ shouldn't be tagged ___ because it's just hate"? That I can deal with.
Maybe if you just try to help me out, then we can work on this.
And the ONLY REASON I'm tagging this w/PG's name is so that you will see it and hopefully explain something to me so I can improve. Then I'll remove the tag.
