I find it funny that people are always the first to claim that Hillary is pandering and whatnot, when you know she's actually trying to connect with people? Bernie couldn't even name a Bowie song. But that article you shared talked about how people from her own side have started undercutting her because it's popular, and it's easy because Bernie places himself as the morally just choice. Very interesting

Especially when Bernie is hardly exempt from “pandering” (i.e. invoking pop culture references and playing to his demographic’s interests). The only difference is that Bernie’s campaign has only made strides to appeal to one demographic, so it still appears “authentic,” for whatever reason. (And this, of course, has nothing to do with the fact that Hillary’s supporter base is much more diverse in race, class, gender, and geography than Bernie’s, and so for her to connect to all of them inherently looks more like pandering.) But, y’know. George Clooney hosting a fundraiser for Hillary and downballot Democratic candidates makes her an obscene whore, while Mark Ruffalo and Danny DeVito being the celebrity faces of Bernie’s campaign just proves that he’s fun and quirky. He’s down to earth because he hangs out with Frank Reynolds and the Hulk! Hillary is out-of-touch and whorish because she’s supported by George Clooney and Beyonce! Pretzels is the same.
