i want to make it extremely clear:

i in no way support or endorse JKR or neil gaiman, absolutely a resounding FUCK them, but i do firmly believe in separating the art from the artist, and death of the artist, which means i get to critically consume canon, murder it, and rebuild it in my mind palace like frankenstein with fanwork. these are our characters and stories to build off of!

His grip tightened on the steering wheel. 

After a few long minutes of driving in silence, he took a deep, shaky breath that did nothing to even his unsteady voice.

“Y’know, I’m not sure if I’m the right person to say this, but-” 

A hand clawed painfully into his arm.

“Hey, Bakubro!” 

“The hell-” 

Katsuki whipped his head towards Kirishima with a scowl that froze as soon as he saw the other man’s panicked face.

“Could you take a right at this next intersection?”

He rubbed his neck nervously.

“I’ve uh, really gotta piss man!” 

Katsuki’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

“Sure? Fuckin’ whatever, you don’t have to be so dramatic about it. We can stop at a 7-11, there’s one a few blocks down.”

Kirishima’s grip tightened as he pointedly locked eyes with Katsuki. 

“Nah, uh, you should turn here! I mean you’ve gotta get pretty bored taking the same route all the time, right?”

Kirishima stared at him expectantly, like he was supposed to understand whatever the fuck that meant.

What the hells gotten into him?

And then it clicked.

Katsuki could hear his heart pounding in his ears.

The first thing he registered was the absolutely terrified expression on her very red face as she froze in embarrassment. 

“Whatcha up to in here Ga-“

The second thing he registered was what exactly he’d walked in on.

She was sprawled out on her bed, lying stomach down with her leg ribbons in the air. A blue sketchbook lay open on the mattress in front of her, and wrapped up in each of her hands were plushies. Specifically, one plushie of Pomni and one of Jax with their fabric faces shoved together in a very rudimentary “kiss”.

Jax’s ear twitched in annoyance. Before his brain could catch up with him, he’d already bolted out of his seat and snatched the roller skates from Pomni’s raised hand.

“Fine! If you insist.”
